I found this site on another board and when I checked out the site, all I could think of was, "BROWN IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!! The contrast is … quite striking. http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/

that sounds AWFUL. no movies, essentially no music, that ridiculous dress code...and I thought my high school was bad. :s

I especially like the "all weapons must be turned in for storage" I mean, if that's your thing, go for it. Keep in mind this is the same university whose president wrote to GWB in congratulations for his reelection, "Don't equivocate. Put your agenda on the front burner and let it boil. You owe the liberals nothing. They despise you because they despise your Christ."

dcircle,

Bob Jones: the Anti-Brown! lol

bju isnt even accredited, they have the same degree granting power as Pizza Hut

WEIRD.

That is so weird. I am at the Bob Jones website RIGHT NOW. My friend gave me a link to it as a joke, and I am looking at it right now. Weird.

I remember a character in the movie "The Ladykillers" talking about Bob Jones University, but I never knew it was a real university....

GOOD LORD!

No pun intended.

i read al frankens "lies and the lying liars who tell them" and towards the end he dedicates a whole chapter to a campus visit he made to BJU.

i laughed until i cried

even if you dont read the whole book, check that chapter out
it really really is the anti-brown

Yo, don't be hatin' on BJU, it's my reach!

I might die if I had to go there.

Like, seriously.

yea lol bob jones was in the ladykillers

Haha! I always thought Bob Jones University was something made up! The poor students. What kind of a college life is that?

You know, they could have at least chosen a more interesting name! Honestly, I bet 1/12 of the American male population answers to Bob Jones. ...Even Robert Johnson U is an improvement.

Not that Brown does very well in the interesting name department...

Although "BJ University" does have that risque connotation that may attract many male students.

Hehehe... ;)

i especially love how they have prayer leaders and "assistant" prayer leaders...just in case :p

haha, there needs to be proper chaperone's when men and women interact...i love it! :D

Seeing that Brown University students associate themselves with the ideals of "openness" and "being accepting of all peoples," it seems very contradictory that all of you would laugh off Bob Jones University. Even if you don't agree with what they do, they conduct themselves according to their religion. I hope that all of you realize what you're doing when you make these rude comments....

Accepting all peoples...good virtue.
Accepting all ideals, including really, really absurd ones...bad virtue.

That's still YOUR opinion that's it's "absurd" -- you're just proving my point only further.

Honestly, no one's going to embrace everything. It's unrealistic, and it's conceited to think that you can and will withhold judgement from every new idea that crosses your path. Just because I'm going to Brown, it doesn't mean that I'm going to blindly be open to things that I don't look favorably upon...for example, anal sex. Now, I am not comparing BJU to anal sex, it was just an example. Everyone has biases.

I do want to know though, if the student body is hardcore religious enough to matriculate to BJU, why do they feel the need for all the chaperones? Either the students aren't as devout as they seem like they should be, or the administration is just cracked.

that's like saying one should accept the beliefs of the most racist hateful person because to dislike them would be being "close-minded."
