Book

My best friend is now my rival at UF. She went to orientation the other day and came back yesterday. She showed me this thing they have at UF called "The F Book" and it's like a book about traditions and they go to certain places on the campus and they take pictures and what not. It seemed like a pretty cool idea and I was wondering if FSU had something like that. Let me know. :)

You might be interested to note that the "F" that UF uses came from Florida State. (Your Gator buddy I'm sure will find this fascinating ;))

In 1905, when the Florida Legislature decided to segregate the various colleges by sex and race in the Buckman Act, all male students were required to attend the newly created university in Gainesville (UF). The FSC football team was required to go with the young men, and the symbol of the Florida State team was a large "F".

Here's a graphic of that team from Wikipedia: Image:Florida State rc01140.jpg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "F" Club remained at FSU, however, and may be seen in various graphics located around campus in the Legacy Walk: Florida State University :: Legacy Walk

P2N is there some sort of traditional scavenger hunt at FSU like it sounds like they have at UF?

There may be as a part of freshman activities in the Fall.

Perhaps some of the current students have better info...

during my orientation, some leaders were discussing various FSU traditions, past and present, and mentioned that there would be a book coming out either this fall or spring (i can't remember) that would list something like 80 traditions the school has established.

Sorry i can't remember the name, but i hope this helps! Personally, i can't wait until it comes out :]

livelaughlove, i believe that's what it was about! thanks! very excited for it to come out. i enjoy little stuff like that. :D

i knoww, me too :] I think the leaders also said that when we graduated, if we had completed all of the traditions (or something like that) we could get a special medallion or something of the sort. I can't quite remember, but I definitely want to try and do as much of them as i can!

Yes! That's what my friend said too. For graduation you get something. Thanks. :)

no problemo. :]

you may find this web site of fsu traditions to be of interest....

I dont know about a book of traditions, but when I went through orientation you do watch a movie which goes through the various FSU traditions. Additionally the orientation leaders and groups go through various traditions in a competitive manner with other orientation groups.
