Treason, Slander, How to Talk to a Liberal (If You Must)

I think I am giving ann coulter wayyyy too much credit by referring to these pieces of literary $hit as books.

I think I am giving ann coulter wayyyy too much credit by referring to these pieces of literary $hit as books.

I also don't advocate the burning of any books, hypothetical or otherwise, but this is a funny thread nonetheless.

I must say that I enjoyed Lord of the Flies; it really taught me something about human nature.

I'm going to have to give my vote to Heart of Darkness....such a terrible, terrible book. I tried so hard to understand it or gain even the smallest appreciation for it, but I couldn't. I think the line "Oh, the horror! The horror!" perfectly described my feelings towards the book.

Scarlet Letter - I gotta say it's pointless, maybe because I don't understand it.

Great Gatsby....

Any Thing By Anne Coulter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How DARE you suggest The Great Gatsby!!

Vonnegut is a genius! Breakfast of Champions is not my favorite of his, but try "Cat's Cradle", or "God Bless you, Mr. Rosewater" and I swear you'll have a different opinion of him.

As far as wishing a book didn't exist, my personal choice would be Absalom, Absalom by William Faulkner. I was assigned that book during my junior year in college, and I think the book is unreadable. Faulkner is more or less known in academia as America's greatest author, but I have to disagree, because generally I think a great author should be able to make his point without causing migraines in the reader.

Scarlet Letter- It's been almost 5 years since I read it and I've still got really bad memories of reading that book.

And like some others have said, Fahrenheit 451. Not that I hated that book, but I'd be a bit curious to see if when the book actually reached 451 (I'd put a temp guage on it) it burst into flames.

oh yes... scarlet letter. good addition to the list.

I didn't find Scarlet Letter too bad. Gatsby was also alright (someone mentioned earlier).

I liked scarlet letter and fahreinheit 451.

however i would burn the jungle, worst bookEVER

This thread reminds me just how much I hate literature.

Yeah, I said it. Now I'll never get into college. Puh.

You can still get into Billy Bob's College of Haircutting.

The Jungle? I loved it. I really felt for Jurgis and Ona, and got mad at the capitalists. Also idk why so many people hate A Separate Peace. I liked it. Also I loved Great Gatsby and the various expressions Fitzgerald used.
Guess this just shows u how different we r.

Hate to imagine where we'd be without that book, though I have yet to read it.

Whos looking out for you-By BILL O'REILLY, OMG that guy is the most pompous opinionated right-wing idiot i have ever seen!

haha...i really like some of the books that you guys want to burn...the jungle, the great gatsby, fahrenheit 451, the odyssey,

wouldn't you consider burning fahrenheit 451 a bit ironic? -__-;;

and is "a separate peace" THAT bad? :[

i think that was the point of 451. for irony and laughter.
i liked separate peace idk why it's on the burn list.

f451 was mentioned probably as a joke.

i hated seperate peace. failed to bring up any points acrross.

A Gracious Plenty - A book that has somehow achieved adult reading status at an elementary level, extremely pointless bull. Please anyone who gets their hands on a copy of this burn it immediately.

turn of the screw by henry james. omfg that book sucks.
