books?

so i know we should buy books online cause they're cheaper, and there are probably lots of exchange sites online. but how do we know wich books to buy? is there a website with a class list that has the books needed?

or do we wait till welcome week?

or should people just ask here?

i got time, i just wanna line my ducks up in a row.

wait till you know for sure what classes you're in and then buy online, (I suggest amazon). To find out which books you'll need go to the Berkeley bookstore online website

and click FIND YOUR TEXTBOOKS
you might have to buy "readers..." don't worry about them until your profs tell you where to go

Some people advise you don't buy books until you know which ones you will actually read, or if you will take the class and not drop it for some reason. Some classes end up not using some of their books or having syllabi changes. I've always purchased early and fully.

I always bought my books ahead of time, but a lot of people just buy the books during the first week of school at Neds or during book exchanges. The upside is that you get the books you are sure you're going to actually use, but the downside is that you're fighting lines and crowds. If you go onto your telebears, there should be a link with your schedule to purchase books online. It will take you to the Cal Bookstore's site with all the books listed. I usually write down the list of books and shop around different sites and places.
