Borderline Applicant suggestions? FSU

Hi guys! FSU is my dream school and I feel as if I am a borderline applicant this years class because of my below average sat scores (1060/1600). If I apply in August and I retake my ACT in September when will they review my application? If I don't think that my score will improve that much am I better off not retaking my ACT so that FSU will review my application earlier and before the majority submit their applications? I am going to apply the day that the application is available! Also, is it better for me to apply summer 2015 or fall 2015?

FSU doesn’t use rolling admissions. They do Early Action (nonbinding) and regular admissions.

For Early Action, all applications and all supporting documents Received By: October 15, 2014. The decision will be available online on December 17th, 2014.

Regular admission dates are January 14th, 2015 (for applications) and the decision is available on March 18th, 2015.

You’ll want to apply by the October 15th date, but applying earlier doesn’t help, all applications are reviewed after this date. You could apply in August, take the test in September, but it would be reviewed with all of the other applications, after the 10/15/14 date.

Good Luck!

Not sure why you think you’re borderline. Judging by your weighted and unweighted GPA, you’ve taken several honors or AP classes and done well. If you’re worried about your test scores, the good news is that of the 3 big criteria (GPA, schedule rigor, and test scores) FSU cares the least about your test scores.

As Gator88NE says above, make sure you apply by the October 15 deadline. This is the main decision deadline for FSU, when they accept the majority of their applicants. The January deadline/March decision dates are when FSU accepts a much smaller portion of their overall numbers.

The big thing to remember is to ALWAYS apply for Fall. If you are not accepted for Fall, FSU will automatically consider your application for Summer anyway, so you get 2 chances at acceptance- something that does not exist when you apply for Summer directly.
