Bored, I guess I'll "chance" you if you chance me...

I'm bored..just had a midterm and have nothing to do; so if this tread goes to page 2 in like 10 min, I'm cool with that.
I'm just watching the third season of LOST (this show gets progressively better after each episode..unlike prison break, i really wish i could get those 30 hours of my life back) so...

Chance me and I'll chance you
(i'll be on my comp for a while)

Applied: UCB and UCLA
Major: Psychology
GPA:3.75

Transfer Programs: TAP (berkeley), Starting Point Mentorship Program (berkeley), TAG (davis)

Essays: My TAP rep helped me write them and those guys know everything about admission

EC's/Work: Red Cross Volunteer, went to APA 2008, Teach Kids about science(work), psych club

Pre reqs and IGETC done

stats look promising. no TAP for UCLA?

90% for UCB considering you are TAP certified. But 75% chance for UCLA considering you are not TAP certified for UCLA.

My Stats:

Applied: UCLA

Major: Psychobiology

GPA:4.0

Transfer Programs: TAP UCLA Certified

Essays: I like them, then again, I did write them…

EC’s/Work: Volunteered at my local hospital for 100+ hours, Member of AGS and PTK, and other EC’s that I don’t feel like mentioning

All required prereqs done. Didn’t have time for Physics because theirs no way you could take all prereqs in less than two years. Physics is recommended but not required.

IGETC Certified

Received Regents Scholarship Invitation

^
I’d say you have a pretty good chance at LA, at least, and definitely Davis. Berkeley likes their GPAs high, though, so I don’t know about that. If everything else was strong, who knows, though.

Chance me:
Transfer
GPA: 4.0
No TAGs or anything
Just applied to UCD
No extra-curriculars, but a fairly strong essay about some community service stuff I did over the summer
haven’t heard from them yet…

Lol@4.0 chance me’s

lol 4.0 gpa and chance me, jeeeeeeeez lol

^
okay! not so funny…it’s not like I have a TAG or anything outstanding…plus that 4.0 was just with 22 actual class-completed units. 10.6 units were from AP scores, so they don’t count toward GPA, and I’m taking the rest of the units this semester.
so you can see why I might be worried, yes?

652316541: i think you have a decent shot for psychology at both schools, especially UCLA. The median GPA I believe for Psych. last year was about a 3.7 so you’re even a little above the average.

GPA: 3.79
Major: Sociology
Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSD (accepted)
EC’s: Part time work at law office, played softball in high school, a few community service jobs
IGETC and Pre-reqs completed
Essays: 8.5/10

agreed with beardy’s laughoutloud.

i think both of you have a good chance. 9/10

syn, TAP for LA and 4.0…you’re in everywhere (go take that 2 month long spring break you always wanted)

Book…UCD is a lock, unless you don’t have enough units, pre reqs, or didn’t finish igetc…you’re set (no ucla or ucb? you would prob get into one or both of those)

Sweet…as you prob already know av gpa for UCLA was 3.62, you’re almost at a 3.8. I think ucla is a strong match and UCB is a 92-95% match.

but hey that’s my opinion

Yeah, I’m hoping to hear from UCD any freaking hour now. I’ll have all my units done at the end of the semester and I’ll be IGETC certified, and Davis doesn’t require all pre-reqs completed for English majors. Most of them aren’t offered in my district’s campuses, anyway.
I’m not brilliant or well-rounded enough for Berkeley or LA, though.
I think anything above a 3.7 GPA with additional qualities of work, essays, community service, etc. is a high chance for most UCs…

“I’m not brilliant or well-rounded enough for Berkeley or LA, though.”

i dunno, about that. You will still have to face competition and try just as hard in UCD. It’s not going to be easy.
My perspective is (and I am assuming that the competition and rigor will be the same even though I have no first hand experience):

you worked hard in cc so that you could go to any UC. and you would work hard there. As long as you’re working hard, get that name brand school and reputation as well.
Still, UCD is a top notch school but not applying to the other top notch schools in my opinion was a mistake.

As the poster in my Speech 1 class says “you will miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”

^^btw if i misinterpreted what you said and went off on that rant…my apologies

^
Ha. I had that basketball poster one in Anatomy last year. I would love to go to LA or Berkeley, but I have to commute from home, so Davis is really the one practical choice. And I don’t plan on slacking off…but I am looking forward to Davis’ relatively chill atmosphere.

understood

best of luck!

652316541: good chance at both schools

chance me please?

tyty

clarify for a sec…I can’t find human bio for b,la,sd,d,or sb…do you mean just regualr bio?
what schools did you apply to? what schools pre reqs have you/not completed?

First time for everything… I usually hate reading these things, but this is a chance me post, so double yoo tea eff!

^
As an aside, How did you get your essays rated?

Im usually a decent writer, but I’m just guessing really. Everyone thinks their essays are the bee’s knees, so Im down playing it incase they really suck…
