Reflection

Strengths: EC’s, course rigor, essay
Weaknesses: Test scores, low GPA
Why you think you were accepted: Essay and letters of recommendation!
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Accepted: University of Maine, University of Southern Maine, University of Vermont, University of New England
Waitlisted: University of Connecticut
Rejected: Boston University, Bowdoin College
Waiting on: Yale, Cornell, Stanford, Bryn Mawr, Colby College

General Comments: I never received an email on Thursday so I assumed that I was rejected! Luckily I was offered a spot in the OTE program and am seriously considering it. Essays do matter even if you think your test scores are too low to even be considered! 2 students in my grade were accepted (had better test scores than me), 1 student was wait listed (still had better test scores than me). I do think I would get rejected by the schools I am waiting on, but Boston College is one of my first choices and am glad I applied when my friend encouraged me to!

A really can’t say how blessed I am to have been accepted. Thank GOD. The essays truly, truly matter. I centered my supplement essay on my future ambitions (Magis prompt). Although the essay didn’t explicitly incorporate a “Why BC” sort of question, I took the opportunity to tie that in there; why a Jesuit, liberal-arts school was perfect for a religious and ambitious person like me. That was truly what got me accepted. Seeing many others get waitlisted/rejected with stats higher than I am is enough for me to be thankful. Good luck to the rest of you.
