Boston College Class of 2020 Regular Decision Thread

Im mainly interested in the test score piece though. Does BC even consider people with a test score like that? I do not want to get my hopes up for nothing.

An ACT score of 27 is deep in the lower 25% quartile of accepted students. Acceptance is not unheard of, but it’s usually accompanied with compelling strong points of an application to offset it.

Sending in My Application this Weekend

puppy, ACT is great; ~85% of BC matriculants are in the top decile of their class, so your rank is a slight negative. Earn as many A’s as you can this semester.

For ideas on crafting a good supplemental essay, search for posts by scottJ.

Good luck.

Hi all, to set your minds at ease a bit, I am a student in the BC class of 2019 and I got accepted EA last December with a 1960 SAT and 28 ACT. I was on the lower end of the scale (and was not recruited for a sports team nor am I a legacy), so if I got in you definitely have a chance! Good luck!!

I applied to Davidson College ED2, but I’m doubtful I will get in, and Boston College is my 2nd choice afterwards. I’m not a big fan of long waits, so these next few months are gonna suck.

Major: International Studies
ACT: 31 superscore (English: 34, Math: 27, Reading: 36, Science: 25)

Essays: Common App: really good and well edited and powerful, Supplement: I did the Magis one, I think it was ok
Reccomendations: hopefully good!

My weakness is definitely my mid-year report, I got B+'s in 3/4 of the AP’s im taking this year, so that might hinder my chances

I sent my application on Dec. 29 but I haven’t heard anything from them… does BC notify the applicants whether they received their applications?

Yes, they did for my son’s within a couple of days. They gave us a login ID etc to check our status in their portal. Make sure you check Inbox and Spam/Trash folders. If not there, call tomorrow. Good luck

@TXDad56 I checked my spam folder, nothing in there. I will call them tomorrow. Thank you tho!

yes they do. I received a BC portal and they gives me the user name so I can check my status

@kker98 I called the office yesterday and got my ID and stuff. Thank you for replying!
