chalk: the biggest component/asset that generally hurts the middle class from receiving much aid is home equity, of which ~5.6% is considered available for college expense. (Yes, I get that the $$ is not that easy to access, but that is the standard formula which has been used for many years.) It’s just the really selective colleges, such as HYPSM, cap home equity in their financial aid calculations. BC does not.
But yes, you can appeal, if you have additional information to add: medical expenses, tuition for a sibling, taking care of the grandparents, etc. Contact your Advisor in the FinAid office.
Kind of disappointed to hear that they rejected my non custodial parent waiver. They didn’t even notify me when they made the decision, so I barely learned yesterday. I shouldn’t be shocked considering all that I have read about their financial aid. Emory, BU, and Fordham all accepted it
@PickyParent on the BC admitted Facebook group, people have posted intros about getting into csom honors RD. I don’t see why notification wouldn’t be included within the letter RD but was EA. I guess those people have been steering clear of CC
