@T20hopeful2023 Thanks! Great info
3/4 years of housing is on the Acceptance letter.
BC holds classes open for each orientation so classes don’t fill up. My son went to the last orientation and there were plenty of classes open. I hope you find this helpful.
Has anyone participated in Eagle for a Day? My D was accepted EA and is excited about BC, but it is bigger than many of the schools she applied to. Although there are three times the number of undergraduates, when we went to the Accepted Student program, the school didn’t actually “feel” that big to me. We are waiting on a a few more colleges, but I would love for her to become both comfortable, and excited, about BC as it is a great school. Even my husband, a UMass Amherst grad with a bias, came around after Accepted Students Day. Any feedback on this program from those who participated is very welcome. This is my fourth child through the college process and it seems like it is getting harder and harder to get into college these days (unless you can photo shop your face on an athlete, wink, wink). She was wait listed at smaller schools that I consider to be good colleges, but not as competitive at BC. It’s been an unexpected roller coaster ride with this one.
We did the Eagle for a Day program last winter when my twin daughters were looking at schools. This was still the
time where you couldn’t apply ED anywhere and EA to BC, so we wanted to make sure BC was really their first choice. My husband took them as I had done the initial tour with them and I needed him to see how wonderful the school really was. I think you get a much better feel for the school during the Eagle for a Day as opposed to the Accepted Students day. My girls went to class and lunch with a student and were able to meet the friends of the student. They said that every student they met was the nicest person they had ever met. My husband sat through 2 or 3 info sessions and then went to the library or caf to watch the students interact while the girls were at class. He couldn’t believe how kind all the kids were and he got lots of good info by sitting in on multiple info sessions. Before he went up there, he said that there was NO WAY he would pay full fare for BC. Guess where the girls are 99% going next year? Yep, BC. It’s really hard to not fall in love with the school and all 4 of us went up there initially not expecting to love it. Good luck.
My daughter attended Eagle for a day in the fall. It was lovely. The student she was placed with was a perfect match. My daughter went to class and lunch with several of her friends. Nothing but good reviews for Eagle for a day. Still at the top of my daughter’s list.
My D used to be one of the volunteer tour guides for Eagle Day. She just loved showing off her school to prospies.
Glad to hear that y’all had a wonderful experience.
btw: the Student Admission Program is a great volunteer opportunity for Frosh since you can make your own hours, as few or as many as you want.
Do any of you accepted students have any insight to how your portal changed before you received your acceptance? And did anyone receive an email from financial aid before you were accepted?
@our4kds, my daughter didn’t check the portal ahead of the release of decisions because the decision itself arrived in an email and not through the portal. The financial award came about two weeks after the decisions were released, if memory serves.
How do most freshmen find roommates? I know that you can either request or have it be random, but do more people do it one way or the other?
@haden95 My d met hers on BC Facebook page and networked.
@haden95 my daughter also found hers in the facebook group, as did most of her friends. In fact, if your student lives in an area with a lot of BC admits, you may find this interesting also. A group of them somehow connected on facebook ahead of time and met in the city (like 10 of them?) before they even started (NYC). It was kind of nice and they had a little “group” when they got there. I think many of them are still friends. My daughter is a senior now and she still has her same roommate. Good luck!
Just signed up for Fall housing. Part of the application is a roommate questionnaire and a short bio. After you fill it out, you can browse matching roommates and contact them. Part of the form has a place to enter Facebook and Twitter links. I don’t really use either so I put my Instagram account in my bio.
Facebook and Twitter, that’s funny. I am a dad and my daughter was never on either. Snapchat and now Instagram.
