@DukeShama I wasn’t saying legacy wasn’t a hook. Trust me, we are glad if it ensures a second glance at the app. My point is the legacy kids that I personally know at ND most likely (as it sounds like yours didn’t) didn’t need the hook.
Legacy applicants have a huge advantage at Notre Dame. There is nothing wrong with that.
In 2015, it looks like Notre Dame accepted 24% of legacy students, versus 7.6% for Georgetown.

Notre Dame legacy admit rate was 45 percent in 2014, according to Don Bishop:
““Fortunately,” says Bishop, “our alumni produce pretty bright kids. The academic profile of that group is quite good.” The admit rate for these applicants is about 45 percent”

Private universities can do whatever they want. Accepting a lot of legacies has been a profitable strategy for Notre Dame and has helped it build its $13 billion endowment (versus $2.6 billion for BC and $1.7 billion for Georgetown).

This is the article that references the 3,170 admits last year from 10,000+ applications.
I think the numbers you were referring to were the class of 2021
Boston College Twitter says decisions will be released no earlier than 5:30 eastern via email.
“EA applicants: Decisions will be released via e-mail no earlier than 5:30 p.m. (EST) tonight.”
can you can have a rec letter from someone other than your teachers and counselor?
@nicolecampb I did. I sent in the required ones and then I sent in one additional. And then after I got deferred I sent in two more. Good idea to email your admission officer once in awhile, but try not to over do it. Mine was nice, he always responded.
Good luck all!
Message to the class of 2024 applicants:
Although this message will have aged about a year before it has any significant meaning to you, I wish you all luck. There are many before you that have experienced the same feelings as you! Everything works out in the end.
Hey, who knows. Maybe we’ll be seeing each other on campus.
Wishing everyone the best of luck as a fellow EA applicant! Still waiting for the email though… Seems like nerves are getting the better of me because there is still a half hour left, according to the time that BC tweeted out. Has anyone gotten an email yet?
