Boston College Class of 2024

I don’t think ED is un - Jesuit. Building community is very important to BC. ED allows them to enroll kids who really love the school, buy into its mission and will likely make positive contributions to the school. It can be hard to suss out who really wants the school so ED certainly helps. Personally I think that schools that have EA plus ED1 and ED2 are mainly trying to game the rankings. And surprised by the number of UVA ED apps. Seems low for a state school with the in state tuition that is affordable for many. Seems like ED there would be a no brainer for lots and lots of VA kids.

They hired a young and seemingly dynamic head of admissions reporting to the dean last year.

I think this is a change brought on by this new influence. They can always change back one would think if it doesn’t pan out.

Agreed. Moreover, they also should have a smaller WL and smaller financial aid budget.

And who can pay sticker or at least have no need to compare financial aid packages, i.e., top low income kids get in the RD line, so ED takes a hit to economic diversity (which can be made up in RD?)

    National Honors Society 2018/19 - 2019/20

I wrote my common app essay about how I’ve grown up during my time at the aquarium and realized that the environment is a true passion of mine. I wrote my BC supplement on how service and faith have been deeply rooted in my upbringing and how service has become so important to me (part of the reason why I love BC).
My Dad and Grandfather are BC Alum (not sure how much legacy matters at BC). I also live in Vermont and go to a 250 person public school, if demographics come into play at all. I realize its a bit of a long shot for me but I figured why not I love it so much!

About how many people do you all think applied ED1?

@texassenior20 I’m curious about that number as well. I am guessing approx. 2000.

Okay I’ll bite on the chance me’s. All solid candidates but I think @slmavt and @dhdhhdghshg will get deferred and @milky0502 stands a good chance of getting in.

About how many people do you think applied ED 1?

@jc2020 @aboutcollege32 @“emma.j17”

Best of luck. Guess work is about 2500 for ed1 and ed2. That’s the uva levels too I think. How that breaks Ed 1 and 2 is tbd. I think probably a lower ed1 and more for round two for those who didn’t get into hpys etc and decide to try. Jus a guess.

I think they will be a bit conservative with yes and no today. Clear yes and clear no will be notified. Many excellent candidates will be deferred to get a sense of ed2 and rd rounds.

All a guess work. But please come back and let us know to help inform ed2 and rd. Plus kids like you in the future.

Best of luck for you all and you should be proud of your accomplishments. They will serve you well at BC or elsewhere. More importantly for your futures.

Hi! Is this the main thread for BC 2024 ED decisions for tonight? There’s another thread that I’m on but not sure which one to monitor or if there is a completely different one that I missed. Thanks and good luck everyone!

I hope so! My daughter applied RD but I can’t wait to hear what happens with everyone! Good luck!

ED decisions coming out now!!! My daughter’s friend just got in! Congrats!!

I got in!!

Come on. There has to be some more results. I’m rooting for everyone who has posted. And their parents nearly as much. But deferral is ok. And a no means focus on the others you’ve been thinking about. There isn’t a bad school or lack of fun and activities in the top 200

I was deferred. I am going to remain optimistic, however.

last year this page was FILLED with everyone discussing their results. i was deferred EA but admitted RD so honestly there’s a chance for everyone who was deferred. i would like to see more results though. this is disappointing.
