Do not worry. I pray for a good outcome for you!

Thank you sm :slightly_smiling_face:

Dont give up hope. NEU is not holistic, compared to BU and BC.

I think my best chance at BU and BC would be if they considered my resume. I sent that in mid February so hopefully that wasnā€™t too late

Do decisions come out around 6:00 EST tomorrow?

i think itā€™s 5 pm e.s.t

nevermind they didnā€™t give a specific date they just said ā€˜eveningā€™

A lot! BC is notorious about their preference toward legacy. I have many colleagues ( I live in Boston) whoā€™s kids have applied to BC and EVERYBODY got in. A class mate of my son got in this year- both parents BC alumni with GPA significantly lower that other applicants. Sad!

if my dad went to BC but didnā€™t graduate from there, do you think it would slightly increase my chances

Sounds like could be a negative impact for this case.

why would they hold that against me

Depend on why did not graduate in my humble opinion.

How would they know?

Because he is not an alumnus (someone who graduated from the institution), it would probably not make much of a difference as far as you getting legacy consideration. However, you should not worry that it would work against you either. People leave colleges for all sorts of reasons and I doubt it is something that they had time to really focus on while reviewing applications.

Of course, BC may very well consider him an alumnus. I suppose all schools may look at it differently. Some may consider a former studentā€™s family members legacies, while other schools may only consider a graduateā€™s family members legacies. I guess without us knowing BCā€™s policy, itā€™s difficult to say. Regardless, donā€™t worry too much about it. Good luck to you!

My father attended a top school for one year and then was recalled into service during the war, was seriously wounded and never finished. He always received the alumni magazine every year though so I would say some schools may consider an attendee an alum for legacy purposes. I applied to that school with pretty good, but not great grades and was accepted ( but did not attend due to cost) so Iā€™d like to think his year there tipped the balance in my favor. Nothing you can do about it anyway so donā€™t worry and good luck.

Regular decision release date is tomorrow, Thursday, March 25th, 2021 - sometime in the evening

D got into NEU, waiting on BC. Weā€™re from midwest, not too familiar with the comparison of both schools. NEU accept rate seems lower. Any insight as to why? I would think w/BC being smaller it would be more competitivethan neu? No?
