xyz123a is correct. Gabelli is the only merit aid. I believe those were selected/awarded already back in January.
Thank you both

@xyz123a What is her intended major (if she has one). How strong is the advisory program? Were classes online or in person? How/where are the dorms?
Curious if anyone has stats or other info for waitlisted applicants?
I just want to say how pleased we are with the way BC is handling admissions. Daughter accepted ED to BC, but I continue to follow several of her schools of interest and those of her friends, and so many seem to be protecting yield by waitlisting far too many of these wonderfully smart and hard-working young adults. In addition to protecting yield, many seem to just be seeking as many applications as possible (T-----), in order to make their numbers/acceptance rate look superior. In contrast, BC made it very clear that numbers are not their interest, but rather gathering the most ābest-fitā candidates. Kudos to Grant Gosselin and all the regional advisors, especially our midwest advisor, Chris OāBrien. This process has been interesting in such a crazy year but so pleased that daughter decided to become an Eagle.
What is her intended major?
She is a history major and has decided to apply to the journalism minor next year.
How strong is the advisory program?
To be honest, the advisory system for freshmen has not been as strong as I would have liked. ( I am not sure if it is a product of Covid) Freshmen seemed to be lumped into larger advisory groups with limited access to their advisor. I have heard that this changes sophomore year when students are given an advisor that they will have for the rest of their time at BC and it is a much more personal relationship. Having said that, individual professors have been very available and quick to meet with my daughter when she has asked. (Both in person and remotely.)
Were classes online on in person?
I would say she was 50/50 online vs in person. She insists that Carroll students had many more in person options than MCAS, but that is just her opinion. I would say this has been the same for her ECās. She has both in person and remote meetings for the activities that she participates in. Some club sports will even be holding tryouts this semester. I think things will be much more normal in the fall as the state of MA is starting to relax their restrictions.
How/where are the dorms?
Freshmen are split into two areas, upper campus(60%) and Newton Campus(40%). Newton Campus, home to the law school, is 1 mile from the main campus. (There is a shuttle bus that transports students). Upper Campus is located on the main campus, a very short walk to all of the classrooms on middle campus. Lower campus houses the upper class-men, gym, and sports fields. My D is on upper, so I canāt speak personally to Newton, but I have friends who have both lived on Newton and had kids who lived there. While typically, students are disappointed to be assigned to Newton Campus, they tend to love living there. It has a strong community and the kids all get to know each other. All of the freshmen dorms are pretty much they same, typical rooms that you would find on any campus - No a/c, mostly doubles with a few quads. Forced triples were eliminated this year and I doubt they will be back as early as next fall. The majority of sophomores live on lower campus in some variation of a suite with private bathrooms and common living area. Most juniors live in off campus apartments but return to campus for senior year where the luckiest get to live in the āmodsā, but all senior housing is apartment style.
My D is enjoying her time at BC much more than I could have hoped for during these crazy times. Although campus life is restricted, she was able to make friends quickly and they have taken advantage of the schoolās location, spending a lot of time exploring the city of Boston and all it has to offer.
I hope this info is helpful!
@xyz123a Thank you so much. This is very helpful. My S was torn between applying to CSOM or MCAS. Applied and was admitted to MCAS but I have read that the school provides more individual attention, support and guidance to the CSOM students. I was so happy to read that your daughter is enjoying her MCAS experience and that the professors have been very accessible.
Question for folks who have a student at BC and a student at another school - my oldest was just accepted at BC and got about $20K in need based aid/loans/work study. Her sister is a year behind her, so we will have two in college in 2022-23. Iām wondering what your experience has been with BC adjusting the aid offered when a second child goes to college.
Also, does BC send a comprehensive cost overview that breaks down tuition, R&B, expenses? All we got was a notification of what she was awarded for financial aid. Every other school she applied to has sent a detailed overview of the costs.
I only have a freshman at BC but under the Cares Act signed in December, the multiple child discount is eliminated starting with the Class of 2023. Iām not sure how much, if at all, this impacts BC since they also use the CSS profile. I know for my daughter, our financial aid award was very close to the equivalent of the difference between our FAFSA EFC and tuition. This concerns me that when my daughter is a senior and son a freshman, there will be no increased aid.
That is super concerning about the Care Act! Iām having a hard time finding info about it.
The Net Price Calculator should show you what the aid would be like with a sibling in college.
The bill will give a detailed breakdown of expenses. You can see what to expect on the webpage that shows the cost of attendance Tuition & Fees - Office of Student Services - Boston College
There is not much out there about it but I found this:

Did everyone here receive four years of on-campus housing? In our Dās letter, she was offered four years. I thought most kids have to move off campus for junior year and only athletes and Presidential Scholars were given four years but maybe they started offering that to more kids?
Yes, we were offered 4 yrs also and were surprised.
My D was offered 4 years of housing also. She said many kids she saw on Instagram and Facebook were only given 3 though. She has no idea why/how she got 4. But sheās happy about it.
I didnāt see any mention of housing so I guess that means 3 years?
It is in the acceptance letter.
3 years here
