Did anyone receive notice of being a Gabelli finalist in the packet that was mailed out? DS got his mailed acceptance letter but no mention of Gabelli. Just curious because we were hopeful he would be at least invited to interview.
Sounds like invitations to Gabelli were included in the admissions packet, according to someone in another thread.
Received mine in my packet in a separate folder for the program.
Bummer. No separate folder in his packet. Oh well… Hopefully the FA in January will bring good news. SIGH
Hi, my son was accepted by BC, and he is been “assigned to 4 years campus housing”, according to the admission offer letter, he is not physical disability, not attending nursing school or athletes. Does that mean he is the top 15% list? Thank you so your help.
@Saling1915 Yes, it is my understanding that only students who fall into those categories are awarded 4 years of campus housing. So it is safe to say that if your son is neither physically disabled, in nursing school, or an athlete on a full-ride scholarship, he is in the top 15% of admits.
Just got my acceptance packet in the mail, no mention of Gabelli. Disappointed but definitely not surprised, I knew there was a slim chance of being a finalist. Now I’m just hoping for a good financial aid package BC is my top choice and I know they’re not known for generous financial aid, especially for students whose families have property.
@moosiechica88, thank you for your help. I did confirm with the office today. My son did apply for financial aid, I thought maybe that is the exception, but the office confirmed that only listed categories assign to 4-years.
Did anyone else hear about the Gabelli scholarship?
As it relates to being in the top 15%…and getting four years housing. I wonder how they determine the top 15%. I wonder if they just use scores and GPA for that or if they somehow grade the applications and and at then end have some kind of ranking system.
My daughter who is a junior at BC got 4 years housing as well. She had a very strong application but not a killer score (32 ACT, but top 2% in class)…also got Scholar Athlete, great volunteering. So I wasn’t necessarily shocked that she got 4 years (and she is legacy too, btw) but I wasn’t sure if that score would have gotten her top 15%.
However, I can tell you she is working her butt off. She does well but I don’t think she is top 15% now as a junior. She is in CSOM though with a double concentration in accounting and finance so that may also be a factor.
She’s definitely getting a great education and is in very good company. And recruiting is fabulous. Companies love BC kids.
