**boston college rd 2021 discussion thread**

I think BC might be a nicer place, but we have spoken with quite a few McDonough students who have said the environment is collaborative, everyone is nice, and yes there is a curve but it’s not that bad. I guess it depend on who you ask. Thanks for the heads up though…that’s good to know. I do think one of the bonuses about Georgetown is that there are TONS of employment opportunities for the students. We have consistently heard that!!!

@prof16 BC admitted only 351 off WL, or ENROLLED 351? Because I’m sure they had to admit more than actually enrolled…esp if FA is slim.

I understand that BC is need blind for admissions but does that apply to the waitlist as well?

@Steglitz90 - I don’t know if you saw my post from yesterday but I don’t think those stats are correct. I went to the admissions office last fall and asked how many people were accepted off of the waitlist and they told me 117 total were accepted. I think the 351 number was from the prior year.

@alli3fire They’ve said they are not need blind for waitlist.

Is it possible to join the honors program if you did not initially get it? I read on BC’s website that you can, but how competitive is that? I thought I had a good shot at CSOM honors, but I didn’t get it when I got in EA. Does the honors program make a big difference for business? The thesis seems unnecessary for business, but the smaller classes and better connections with professors sounds like a nice plus.

I know CSOM honors is really competitive, with only the “top 3%” of already the most selective school. I’ll most likely be attending BC either way, just wondering if there’s anyway to get reconsidered.

What percentage of the waitlisted applicants are accepted to BC?

BC didn’t seem to release the total number of students on the waitlist last year but they accepted only 117, according to Admissions. That would like be a very small percentage.

Is Caroll the hardest school to get into?

CSOM is by far the hardest to get in. My daughter is in CSOM and last year her stats professor told them that they may start publishing the CSOM admission stats separately because it’s so much harder to get in. They haven’t done that but it is much harder.

Hi! Could someone tell me if information about the honors program was already released, or if it’s by mail? Thank you!

Honors invitation is incorporated into your acceptance letter.

I believe that (at least for CSOM), Honors is only given for Early Action applicants. They are changing that policy next year however.

Also you can apply for CSOM Honors halfway through first semester but you need to pass a rigorous interview process and have at least a 3.8 or 3.9 GPA. I think 40 people applied this year and they only took 4 or 5 of them.

If honors is only early action how are kids just getting in now?

@crazylegs12 as far as I understand CSOM honors are also offered for RD students as well. In addition, CSOM honors invitations are extended by the school after the first semester based on GPA over a certain number. You are correct approximately 40 were invited and approximately 5 were accepted but not all the invitees proceeded with the process.

So you have to be invited to join CSOM honors after first semester and it’s based on GPA only? How does joining after first semester work with the year long honors class that spans a lot of the core requirements?

Correct, invitations extended after the first semester during winter break based on GPA. CSOM ranks students after first semester grades posted and extend invitations to top 40 or so (class of 540). Students pick up honors classes for spring semester.

Rejected. 32 ACT 4.2/4.0 GPA
