Boston U -> NYU

Possibility of transferring from BU to NYU ? If I can maintain a 3.0 + GPA?

What about if I want to try BU out (have to pay around 20k for a year) and transfer out first semester to CUNY Baruch in New york?

Should I stay in Baruch if I'm eventually going to try to transfer out to go to NYU Stern?

What stats fit Sterns looking for in transfers? thanks =D

3.0+? thats way too vague

transfering to baruch won't help you get into stern

to be at all competitive for stern you'd probably have to have a 3.8+ gpa, plenty of people were rejected though with 3.9's tho...assuming youre in that range, your gonna really need to make your app. stand out, good + relevent internships, good recs., etc.

If I have an internship from american express, would that help?

ah i'm taking this frmo another post. if anyone can help answer, i'll appreciate it :

hey guys I want to attend a university for a year and then try to transfer to Stern at the end of first year (so i'll be applying next fall).

I want to ask how hard is it to transfer into Stern from another school? Is there a percentage? and class requirements?

i'm debating between attending Boston U or CUNY Baruch in the city for my first and/or second year before trying to transfer to NYU Stern.

Which one should I go to? Does it matter?

Let's say I choose BU (have to pay around 20k a year), and i get a 3.0

versus Baruch (free tuition) and i get a 3.5 GPA?

which one would Stern likely accept? Does the college's name really matter?

Thanks a lot guys .. lots of questions and sorry !

and what if i get 3.5 at both schools? which would be better for acceptance into Stern?

thx again

oops. i meant let's say at baruch i can get around a 3.8 ...

BU ... i know someone that goes there and is definitely smarter than i am (except on tests), and she got a 3.1 ..

Id pick baruch with a 3.5 over BU with a 3.0

that .5 makes a huge differene and BU is not that great to make up for it

3.8 for baruch would be even better

I agree.

this operates under the assumption that BU is a substantially better school than baruch...I don't think nyu will make much of a differentiation between the schools, if any at all

is 3.0 your gpa? if so, that gpa won't get accepted into stern...anything less than 4.0 from baruch probably won't cut it

nope. but i'm just making an assumption. you know.. worst case scenario?

hopefully i don't get a 3.0 ...

do they look at junior year also? I had a 3.8ish UW , senior year (senioritishaha) 3.5 GPA and i think i can get around a 3.5+ if i'm at baruch.

I know nothing guarantees admission, but do the harder courses (more advance) help chances?

How about the internships? I have one in the summer at this bank. and I'll be having a non paid internship at Ameriacn Express if I plan to stay in the city and attend Baruch...

Thanks for all the overall help. you guys are excellent!

bump please provide more help ! thanks. appreciate it.

Bump.......
