******BOSTON UNIVERSITY RD 2019 thread*****

Does anyone know what time on the 21st decisions come out? I was trying too see when it has been in past years but I can’t seem to fine a trend.

@tleiboff it’s varied but apparently from ed it was around 2pm

Waitlisted at Northeastern… Hoping to get in BU. 32 ACT, 3.4 UW GPA, lots of ECs

I wasn’t able to send in my Midyear report yet. Will that affect my admissions decisions?

Is it too late call and change my major?

@co2015outhea I’m pretty sure it is, but I’d call and check. At this point everything is pretty determined.

Applications are considered based on the school/college you applied to, correct? I have a feeling SED has far fewer applicants than CAS, and since that’s the one I’m applied to I’m not as concerned as I would be if I were a history major.
I am so excited/nervous to hear back-best of luck to everyone!

those on this thread that go to boston currently, what is CGS? is it worth it to go if i don’t get into CAS, but get into CGS? I’m in love with boston and currently kicking myself for not applying ED due to my low test scores!!

also- if i accept a position to CGS, am i guaranteed a spot in CAS as a junior?

CGS = College of General Studies, check the BU website.

Automatic transfer to CAS with a 2.0 GPA. You must complete the full 2 year CGS program to do an internal transfer.

Female applicant from TX
GPA: 88.37 (100 pt. scale)
SAT: 2060
Lots of extracurriculars
Private college preparatory school
Applied to CAS

Unfortunately I was denied from Northeastern yesterday which honestly I wasn’t expecting. By the looks of it, a lot of you who seem very qualified were denied as well. I’m trying not to connect the two but I’m a bit worried and discouraged for BU since NU denied me.

So I wanted to gain some insight, do I have a fair shot at getting in? Also, is CAS a hard one to get in to?

Best of luck to everyone!

@han904 hey, if u look back at page 6 at the end, i talk about this. I too was not expecting a denial early action. but nevertheless Northeasterns taking a newer direction and they’re getting harder to get into. I know an individual who was waitlisted (hearing yesterday) but got accepted out of state into boston college and unc chapel hill (way harder to get in out of stat ein comparison to northeastern). anyway it’ll be alright, dont let one rejection get to you.

bu is different though. don’t worry. im not sure what ur chances are but their admissions office is different so dont worry. and even if u get rejected ( not saying u will,), there’s other schools out there so dont worry

@llegeAcceptanc thank you! Hearing about your friend made me feel a little bit better. I visited Northeastern and spoke with an admissions counselor and I’d never really been too worried because I thought I was a competitive applicant. I was unaware of Northeastern’s attempt to climb the ranking ladder. I also applied to BC but I am not expecting to get in with my GPA.

I’m hoping BU’s admissions process will be different.

@BUgirl21 I applied to BU’s SED for a Secondary Education major. Do you think they base acceptances ONLY on the departments students are applying to and not as a whole?

I’m also on the denied from Northeastern boat, and had stats that previously would definitely get me in. They’re playing games + irrelevant, everybody who applied to BU good luck!

I applied to BU as an early decision applicant but was deferred to regular consideration
not sure if the committee will notice i applied ED during the regular round and would take that into consideration
applied to ENG

As far as Northeastern goes…they have been competitive for some time, but more so in the last several years. My daughter, who is a 2013 grad said that she doubted she would have been accepted if she were applying in the last few years. But the focus here is BU and it is a different school than NEU. I don’t think they are playing games, just rising in ranks.
Now my other daughter is waiting to hear from BU after also being denied from NEU as a legacy applicant, although her intended major is very small. I wish you all the best of luck

@snoogleki‌ hi! I was also deferred ED… Check your application link and it should say “Thank you for your
application… as an Early Decision candidate” mine does. They say they do take into consideration That you qpplied ED.

Thanks I did, they said I can’t. Good luck if you’re applying.

What time are the results announced on the 21st?
