There is an area at the bottom of the page that lets you know about honors.
My son also got into this program. Costs will probably top $80,000 a year. Do I want to pay it? Absolutely not. I do not feel any degree is worth this money. Nor do I want my son swimming in loans. These costs are out of control. My son was admitted to several top schools and same scenario - full pay, $1000 scholarship or trip abroad. We had one $25,000 scholarship to a safety school but he doesn’t want to go. How do they expect students to pay these prices? He had his heart set on BU Business school. This is heartbreaking.
You don’t think Suffolk U is a peer school do you?
i agree with everything you’re saying except minimum wage is $13.50 in ma
Ah yes, I just saw that they increased it this year! I was basing it off my own hourly rate which is meant to be reflective of 2020’s minimum wage which was $12.75, guess I can ask for a raise now lol. thanks for the correction
I’m not sure if you live in MA or not but if you’ve been getting paid under $13.50 since January then I’m pretty sure that’s illegal and you’re job owes you money. Actually I think your job owes everyone worker they’ve been paying under $13.50 money.
Going off of this comment and based on previous data, last year they enrolled 3,156 students and had 62,224 applications and offered admission to about 11,786 students. Looks like they’re enrolling about the same amount of students but the applications increase by about 13,500 so I imagine the acceptance rate has gone down a couple of points so maybe in the 14-15% range from last year’s 17%/18 %. Guess we’ll know by this week.
Thanks for the concern! I just checked looks like I am getting paid $13.50, I just didn’t notice the increase in my paycheck. Thanks again!
oh okay good haha
Not sure. But regardless of how good or not so good it may be over there, don’t you feel it may be better if he is in close proximity to you? To avoid issues like home sickness, your ability to visit him during weekends etc? (Assuming you are from NY)
Suffolk is in no way a peer of BU.
BU’s acceptance rate dropped to 4% this admissions cycle 3,200/75,733 students admitted:
I suppose they accept about three times of the 3200 students who actually commit.
The yield rate is around 25% and the total admit estimate would be 3200/0.25
Knowing that the acceptance rate was so low this year, I feel better that my daughter was given “guaranteed transfer”. She accepted the guaranteed transfer offer and has decided to go to UMASS Amherst and transfer into BU (only if she isn’t happy at UMass). I think students/parents need to choose the school that has the best program and gives you the most money. There is no need to go into a ton of debt which will follow you, you’re whole life. At the end of the day, it won’t matter what name is on the top of your diploma. It matters most what you did while getting that diploma. Best of luck to everyone making decisions.
oh shoot, got it sorry for this misinformation, i didn’t even think about yield
What is the % of kids that get off the WL at BU usually? I know this is not a usual year though.
It was posted somewhere above but it was not good. As I recall only a few hundred get in, off a list of a few thousand (this was from last year though).
That would assume that every student offered admission would attend. Instead BU has about a 25% yield rate. The acceptance rate will be around 18%.
I’m with you here. My daughter was accepted to BU with $0 in aid. So it’s not happening unfortunately. Can’t justify that much money on an 18 year old that chances are will end up changing majors. Still waiting to hear from Syracuse, NYU & Tulane…will probably end up going in state to start. Who knows there’s always grad school. I’m sooooo over this process
