Both Math SAT IIs only - bad decision?

Hey CCers,

I'm taking Chemistry this Saturday, but I'm not prepared at all and expect somewhere in the 600s on it. Thus far I've only taken Math I and Math II, and gotten a 790 and 800 respectively. I know that these are respectable scores, but is the fact that my highest two by far will both be maths going to hurt my chances at getting into Yale?

You need to call Yale and find out if they consider Math I and Math II sufficient for their "2 SAT II" requirement. Some schools don't.

Even if they technically accept it, commonsense would say that it doesn't show you to good advantage vs other strong candidates since Math I is SAT ultra-lite, the same as the SAT I math curriculum (ie: 8th grade math, roughly), and tells them no more about you than the SAT I math did. So spend the time to study, and try to do better than you expect. Much can be accomplished in a few days.

Once you have the chemistry score on your list that should help.
