who’s going???

Does anyone know what happens at Bowdoin Experience? Is it mainly for first generation, minority, low-income students?

no its for people who were accepted into Bowdoin, but havent yet decided if they actually want to go to Bowdoin. its also for the people who were admitted through QuestBridge

Yeah, l’m a minority (South Asian) but my family is not low income, and I’m not a first generation college student. I thought it was geared to minority students, though. From the Orient, it looks like it’s just a preview of all Bowdoin offers. It looks really interesting.

Looks like a program geared toward minorities, but I’m not 1st-gen low-income. After all, the letter the included is from the Coordinator of Multicultural Recruitment. Does anyone know the general schedule?

What happens at Bowdoin Experience? Like they describe it in the letter but that’s not enough information …

yesterday I talked to someone at Bowdoin about it and he gave me a sort of overview of the whole thing. He said that we meet with the faculty, go to parties, we can go to classes, we can go hiking and other stuff of that nature if we want, and some other formal or semi-formal affairs

Does anyone know if travel expenses and other fees are also covered for parent(s)?

When are we going to find out how we’re getting there (train, bus, plane) and how is that going to work out?

Can anyone explain the difference between the Bowdoin Experience and the Bowdoin Open House for admitted students (offered April 12, 16, and 19)? Thanks!

i don’t think travel expenses are made for parents. its for you to visit bowdoin and stay with people…not for your parents

When do we find out if we are going? What could someone expect from NJ? (flight or bus)

apparently there are 85 kids going and they just mailed out the itineraries so we should be getting them within the next week (depending on where you live)

How soon do we need to mail out that permission slip-like form? I plan on mailing it off tomorrow.

EDIT: I just got an email and it says 88 students are coming. I like the idea of the fun-bus. I’m so excited for this and meeting my potential classmates! Class of '14!

Whats the “fun bus” it didnt say anything like that in my email

@sunmachine:
The Bowdoin Open House is open to all admitted students for the class of 2014 and is only a day-long program with an option to stay overnight. The Experience Weekend is a Thursday-Sunday long program with only certain students invited. The students who are invited tend to be those that represent the admitted class’s diversity, although diversity is defined broadly as socio-economic, racial, ethnic, or even geographic (ie if you’re from California or something)
