i got an email inviting me to a three day trip to bowdoin. has anyone ever done this? and if so, is the trip really exclusive (is it hard to get in)?

My son got something similar to Oberlin. The only reason I could figure out was because he got an 800 on both the Math SAT I and II. I assume it is exclusive.

Bowdoin doesn't base it on SAT scores, I believe it is for minority applicants?

And level of income I think.

economic, racial, ethnic, religious, geographic minority :-p

i wanna go.... how do they find out all that about you though? i mean, ive shown interest in bowdoin, and im definitely not rich...and not many kids in rural ohio go to places like bowdoin.

If you want to go, send in the application they sent you. I think it's due the 15th. I'm applying since I really want to check the school out. It'll be a good way to really get the Bowdoin feel for anyone seriously thinking of going there.

gooooo asians!b

BTW for anyone that applied I email them and they said we would get responses in about 2 weeks. Does anyone know how competative it is to get into this? Either way, good luck to anyone that applied.

Are the Multicultural Weekend and the Invitational the same thing? Never received any mailings so I honestly have no idea.

I just received a message from Erby Mitchell the admissions director/diversity recruitment concerning the Bowdoin Invitational. Basically, the program is very selective in which 130 students across the nation are chosen to be able attend this event. I really really really want to go...Bowdoin is my first choice at the moment...so cross fingers! >_<

I have been to the Bowdoin Invitational in the fall of 2004. It was a great experience. I met so many motivated high school seniors, and we had so much in common. I also had my interview on campus when I visited. The admissions officer who interviewed me was just a fantastic guy. I recommend going if accepted to the event.

Crazedjunior, I've met Erby Mitchell, and he is a great person.

really, that's awesome...I talked to him online and he sounds like such a cool dude! He really helped me develop my desire to attending this school...

They'll be letting us know October 1st I believe. Hoping I get in as well.

I just got the message from Erby...I'm going! Yay! Is there anyone else going?

Yep, I'll be there too! :D

Awesome! See you there! :)

me too, yay

wow i got rejected from that thing..got the letter 2 weeks late

im sure bowdoin really cares about me -____-"

lol but i had it coming
i had already interviewed and visited this summer
they spend money recruiting kids from alaska hawaii and cali or something

being from NJ, i didnt have a chance, even tho i had better qualifications than most kids applying to it.

The 'even tho i had better qualifications than most kids applying to it.' attitude will really get you far here.
