Bowdoin Isolation and Weather

I am from California and I am open to going to college on the east coast but I am just wondering to hear different opinions on peoples thoughts and experiences with the weather and isolation at Bowdoin? Thanks

bowdoin isn’t particularly isolated relative to other new england colleges. it’s in a town of about 25,000 people with a walmart, two movie theaters, and a bevy of restaurants. as for the weather, it’s cold and snowy, but, because it’s on the coast, the weather tends not to be substantially different than the weather in boston. neither of those two should be concerns for you, unless being anywhere outside of a large metropolis is grounds for feeling isolated.

And Portland is just a 30 minute drive from campus. It’s obviously on the smaller side as far as cities go, but there are some beautiful areas to explore and lots of cool shops, restaurants, and music/art events… I love it there.
