Bring a printer?

Should we (upcoming freshman) bother bringing a printer? Is it convinent or a hassle? Can we print somewhere else for free and save money on ink?

I'm pretty sure you can print things for free at the libraries.

i brought my black and white lazer jet - it was perfect, I could print off loads of thick readings and case studies in minutes for free. Printing at Cornell is 10 cents a page.

Well, I'm glad that's cleared up .

If it really is 10cents a page...that sucks, and ill really have to bring one. Can someone else back-up one of these claims.

O, my bad.

I could have sworn the tour guide said it was no problem to print off reports at the library.

it's 10 cents a page on netprint, but ILRies get like 20 something dollars worth of free printing because we're awesome.

yeah, I would recommend bringing your own printer. Like Spanks said tho, ILRies (and some other majors) get NetPrint accounts of about $21 and that should last the whole semester. If not there are computer labs around campus, some are free and some aren't.

If you have a lazer printer, you should definitely bring it. If you have an inkjet printer, I don't think you save much if at all.

If you work in a lab, there is usually a printer that you can use for free. Bringing a printer is definitely a good idea.

It's a good idea to bring a printer, especially if you plan on doing a lot of work in your room. Using NetPrint at the library isn't so bad, but I find it to be a hassle.

ILRies do get like $20 of printer...and printing is 10 cents a page though you can save by printing on both sides! (convenient for large readings one has to print out for class)...

i say bring a printer if you already have it...you will be doing lots of printing...WRITING SEMINARS FTW?

Cornell is cheap, and yes bring your printer

I'll be buying a new printer once in Ithaca, so I was thinking... is it better to have a black-white laser one than a color inkjet? How often do we need to print "colorful" stuff?

get the black and white lazer - I've never needed color. If I did, I could always print at one of the libraries (there's an upcharge for color), but I've still never needed the color feature once.

You'll likely be printing off alot of readings and stuff, lazer lets you print off in quantity very fast w/o wasting expensive ink. Ten times more helpful than any color.

i agree with gomestar, you'll be needing to print sometimes up to 30pgs at a time!

I agree, a laser printer probably would be a good idea.
