printers

My d will be a freshman at Cornell in Hotel and will have a laptop. Will she need her own printer or are labs and printers readily available to all students?
Thanks

theres a printing fee in the labs...

$.10 a page...hmmm wouldn't it probably be better to bring a printer?! you'll have it in your room so it's convenient/ cheaper ! I might just steal the one at my house and bring it with lol

Get a printer. It will pay off in the long run. Some professors will assign reading materials online so unless you can read a lot of text online, you'll want to print them out. The amount that you print depends on your major too. Personally, I print about 50-100 pages a month.

Where in your dorm is there space for a printer? I dont exactly wanna clog up my desk with it...
If there's a good spot for printers in the dorms, what is the max size of a printer that would fit there? (I just purchased a canon all-in-one and am a little worried it is too big for the dorms)

if you have a laptop your desk should have plenty of space for your avg all-in one printer...

Desk usually works, as does floor near printer if it's really big - also depends on how you set up the room, where you are, etc. You'll figure out what works best when you get there.

I have another question, relating to this topic. Is it a bad thing that the computer I plan to bring doesn't quite match up to the minimal requirements? It has a Intel Dual Core Processor, but it is only 1.6 Ghz (lower than the 1.8 minimal). Should I be concerned/bring another computer?

Having a printer saved my perfectly sculpted butt* alot of money from printing the library and it also saved my bold sexy eyes* from excessive strain with all of the reading I was assigned from online sources. I use the same black and white lazer that I've always used - get a lazer as you'll be able to print off loads and loads of stuff w/o running out of ink and w/o wasting time as pages slowly print off line by line. Don't worry about color. Since I found my printer in a cave, it's very big and old ... but I just stuck it under my bed so it didn't take up any wasted space on my desk or dresser.

Generic, don't worry about your CPU requirements.

Core Duos are powerful processors and you can't go by clockspeed alone nowadays. Performance-wise, a 1.66 gHz Core-Duo can easily match a 2.8 gHz Pentium 4 at a fraction of energy consumed and heat evolved.

Your Core Duo can handle it no problem.
