I am buying a Mac book to bring to school but wondered if most kids bring their own printers too? I know they say they have printers in the dorms but would it be more convenient to have my own printer in the room? What do most kids do?

Most kids have their own printer. It’s just a lot easier that way. If you have to buy a new printer, it’s helpful to have one that makes copies, too. (the all-in-one machines are great, and cheap now)

Many kids find the scanner function to be extremely useful. I second the recommendation for an inexpensive all-in-one machine!

i agree that having an all-in-one is very useful. you may need to scan and send an assignment in, or copy notes if you missed class. i dont have one myself, but my dorm is not crowded. but i have gone and used my friend’s all in one many times

if you do end up buying one, make sure you get a laser one, an inkjet one will run out fast and cost a lot. the initial cost of a laser might be more, but it’s worth it

something like this

[Newegg.com - SAMSUNG SCX-4300 MFC / All-In-One Up to 19 ppm Monochrome Laser Printer - Printer - Laser Printers](http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16828112115)

or check out craigslist/ebay for an old scanner and laser printer, they can be pretty cheap. (my cousin gave me his scanner for free, and I picked up an old laser printer for about $50, works great), and many kids are graduating so you can probably pick something up from them for a good price

if you are transfer student it may not be worth it to get one
