I’ll be a freshman this fall and I’ve been thinking about bringing a bike to campus. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if its worth having for getting around since I dont enjoy 15-20 min walks when I’m trying to get somewhere. Any general info about bike use would be apprecaited

Fifteen mins is the max walk up on College Hill you'll ever take. A good number of people have bikes, though probably less than at other U's since 15mins is as long as it takes to get anywhere and most people are more than willing to do that.

Heck, I'm living, "off-campus" and it takes me 2mins and 30 seconds almost exactly to get into the room in GeoChem (351) where most of my classes are held.

Would suggest a bike...makes it easy to get downtown and around.

Unless your going downtown alone, I wouldn't use a bike. Most of my friends don't have bikes and I've never seen a group heading downtown together on bike. Being the only person on bike when everyone else is on foot is not that appeal an option.

A bike isn't necessary, but it can be awfully convenient. It cuts your trip to class from 5-10 minutes to almost nothing. It won't be useful in the winter, though. If it doesn't cost you anything to bring it here, I would say it's worth it. If you have to ship your bike or something, you might want to come for a semester, see how much walking you actually do, and then make a decision.
