Bringing a printer?

Pretty simple. Should I bring my own printer with me to NU, or is it easy to just pop to the nearest lab and do it there? How much does it cost to print per page?

I'm trying to decide between buying a scanner to scan 35mm film, or compromising on an all-in-one. I'd prefer to spend my money on something I really enjoy, but if it's a real pain/cost to get essays and such printed at the library, I'll just spring for the all-in-one.

It’s definitely much more convenient to have your own printer. I didn’t bring one and regretted it.

The cost of printing is like 7 cents or something, so you wouldn’t be saving any significant amount of money by using your own paper and ink.

There are libraries with printers on South and North campus, so finding a nearby place to print is not a problem.

I’d guess a large percentage of students (over a quarter) don’t have a printer. It’s really not necessary. Especially if you’re like me and just use a printer for printing off papers. And often times, your papers will have to be sent electronically to your professor or T.A, so you won’t have to print, anyways.

I didn’t have a printer freshman year and it was fine. Printing at the library’s cheap and convenient enough and I could always mooch off my dormmates if needbe.

I brought my own printer, and it was very handy. It was one of those all-in-one printer/scanner/copier combos, but I only ever used the printer part of it. It was nice for when I didn’t feel like going to the library and for when my dorm’s printer was broken (which was a good half of the school year), and it was on sale for $25 at Best Buy, so it was definitely a great deal for my money.

But as sainclaire said, printing at the library is cheap, so it’s not a big deal if you don’t have your own.
