Agreed. I just like the name.

No offence, but this is an exceedingly stupid thread. Anyone who thinks a "British" accent exists is delusional. Visit Liverpool or Birmingham and see if you still have the same opinion. London even has several different dialects. Americans also tend to forget that Britain also includes Wales and Scotland, both of which have very different dialects. Some dialects of English can be very pleasant but others are difficult to even understand (like Somerset).

Bingo. All the English movie stars have been taught to speak in the most pleasant form of British accents as to create the illusion that everybody in England sounds so "classy".

Woah lighten up! I was talking about generic accents. There's no such thing as an American accent either. There's a New York one, a Boston one, a southern one etc. It's the same the world over.

British accents are hot.

Sorry, spiral_blast. I just find it really annoying when Americans clump British accents together. I guess I should just take the comments as compliments. :o

I find it annoying when people assume all Americans think alike.

It depends from where in Britain. There are some British accents that are just horrible to listen to. On UK tv there are some tv shows that I can't understand any of the people talking- they don't even sound like they are speaking English.

I harness the ability to speak with an especially good New Castle accent. The worst accent is scouse (liverpool). It sounds like they have **** in thier mouth.

Haha the Liverpool accent is a bit difficult to catch...

I personally like the Welsh dialects. My mother (and her family) is from Newport, and it has a nice rhythymic sound.

British accents...aah, so crisp and sophisticated. I love 'em. :)

Too bad the majority of them have those "wonderful" teeth.

Of course, I like british accents. I also like spanish, italian, australian, irish, and many others. Actually, almost all of them. However, I'm not fond of german or scotish accents.

I love ALL British accents. And Irish ones. I do realize there are different ones, and I love them all.

I love Welsh accents! I spent some time in that town with the second-longest name in the world (it has nothing but a little shop) and I loved how English curls around, for a lack of a better description, in the accent.

I dislike the "dominant" New Zealand one though; it sounds too much like an American southerner trying to fake being a "generic Brit."

What about mixed accents? Its pretty cool when somone in a different country learns english from someone with a British accent. -doubly smooth

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

yay
a

lol we just listened to Heart of Darkness on tape in ap lit...it was some british guy, that sounded like the dad from the Wild Thornberries (on nickelodeon...)...it was hilarious. It was quite disturbing when he tried to play the part of the girl at the end...not hot at all

verdict:
girls with british accent = HOT
guy with british accent, pretending to be a girl = GROSS

British and Australian accents are usually pretty dang hot!

Sacha Baron Cohen (Ali G) has an accent that is sexy. Actually scratch that he is just sexy altogther
