Brooklyn2Cornell....did you get a request for 1st quarter grades by Human Ecology?

well? please do respond.

appraently they looked at mine, but it was without my knowledge. I was told by a coach that they looked at them and they weren't exactly pleased. I did not know they lloked at 1st quarter grades, so i think it happens to everyone in Human Ecology

Yes.. I did today. Did you? Do most Human Ecology applicants, or just the borderline ones?

My counselor recieved a request from the College of Engineering. Glad to know I wasn't the only one... even if you guys are from a diff college.

What does it mean if they request your grades? If you have pretty good grades is there a very good chance that you'll be accepted then?

Why did they request first quarter grades so late? We only have few more days till decision...it's cutting it close don't you think?

Yeah thats what I really dont understand. I would think that they would have made their decisions by now. Im very bewildered and I regret some of my first quarter grades now :/

I think it can mean a number of things though. The people whose grades were requested could be in the "yes" pile and they jsut have to make sure that they are keeping up this year. They could be borderline and in the maybe pile, or they could be like in a 'probably not but lets just see their quarter grades' pile. It could be anything. So don't worry.

Why would you think they've made decisions by now? If they were already made, they'd post decisions tomorrow...

Also, to the OP, private messages can be very useful when you have a question for a specific member...no need to clog this forum up with that.

It just seems late in the game to be requesting grades.. its a week before. Why didnt they request them a while ago?

Oh my! i feel so special....a thread specifically for moi. lol. Good question. If they ask for first quarter grades, that may be a bad sign because it shows they wanna check up on you or arent sure. They didnt ask for mine, but my counselor told me cornell called the skool this week to ask for grades of some other people who had lower averages than me for their first quarter grades.

It might mean that they arent sure, but it means that you're definitely not in the rejection pile at this point, right?

No....they may have checked them and then rejected you, or accepted you, or deferred you.

What I mean is... they wouldnt request your grades unless you were in the maybe pile would they? Like if they want to flat out reject you to start with they wouldnt request them. I know that you can be rejected after.

They asked for my first quarter grades last year, I had good first quarter marks, I was accepted ED to engineering. If they ask for your first quarter grades and they are good, this is a good sign, I don't know what it means if they aren't, but if they asked for yours and you have good grades I think that means you have a good chance of being accepted.

yay.. Were you like borderline? Is that why they requested them

I was:
3.8 uw gpa
1450 SAT I
800 Math IIC SAT II
Community Service, Club Officers
Awards
Great Recs
Great Essays
Hardest Classes
4's and 5's on AP Exams

I think that was pretty good, but maybe for cornell engineering, borderline, the only reason why I thought they may have wanted to see it is to see my AP physics grade (Which was an A) because I got a 650 on the SAT II Physics.

eek I never considered myself borderline I consider myself underqualified for Cornell.
