Brown 2010!

Alright, I'll help you out sneakypete. You have the new coldplay CD? I just got it, I think the sound is really good, lyrics are kinda trite, but to be honest I couldn't care less. I don't really pay attention to lyrics when I judge music, I just care about the sound. I love Jon Stewart and Conan, Lenno is horrible. I watch WAY too much TV, all the HBO shows are probably my favorites, kind of pretentious I know. After reading all the threads on the Brown board, doesn't it seem like all of us prospective Brunonians more or less fit a stereotype? Not everyone, but a lot of us do. Honestly though, I don't see anything wrong with that, I think we have a cool a stereotype

got it today actually. who listens to lyrics, anyway?? curb your enthusiasm is super funny too. brown stereotype is a-ok with me.

Hey guys.

I'm dying to go to Brown next-year (it was a toss-up between Wesleyan and Brown for my top choice, but the excess pot on Wes's campus threw me off).

My favorite music includes the Buzzc0cks (argh--stupid filtering), Placebo, Tori Amos, Menmechanical, Billy Idol (what a mix, eh?) and sometimes, I'm partial to Coheed and Cambria.

I hardly watch TV since Angel/Buffy had their series finales (yeah, I was obsessed with the Joss Whedon cult and became a hard-core fan since I was 8), but my guilty pleasure are reality shows, especially ones that deal with talent and fashion. I like reading Ayn Rand's and Harry Potter and Victor Hugo.

I'm an Asian female, but I think I might stand out, although my scores aren't solid. My GPA isn't quite as lovely as I'd like it (3.8). My passion lies in broadcast media, and I have a sturdy record in television productions and an okay record in journalism. Favorite country is England, which I visited in March.

I'm obsessed with models and fashion. I adore Zac Posen, and I'm addicted to semi-trashy magazines, like People and Us Weekly, in addition to Vogue and Elle.

I'd kill be a Brunonian of O-Ten!

haha i am addicted to us weekly as well.... quite the guilty pleasure

Hey!
Sounds like we have an uber-cool rising prospective class!
My name is Marisa, and I'm dying to go to brown next fall! woohoo! lol anyway my favorite books are Exodus and Gone With the Wind, my favorite tv show is Seinfeld, umm I love s'mores and smoothies, I have a ghetto alter-ego (haha), and I like writing poetry :) Also, this is pretty random, but I really enjoy getting the mail, even though there's not usually anything for me other than University of Nowhereseville is the place for YOU!! leaflets

I love seinfeld, preteding to be ghetto, writing poetry, and getting the mail too! I check it kind of obsessively.

heyyy guys:)
I'm also dyyyying to go to Brown next year!
I wear the sweatshirt all the time lol
My favorite book is Mrs. Dalloway, and I listen to bands like Death Cab, Dispatch, and Sonic Youth.
I can't live with out chocolate!!! yuuuuum
Also, I love fashion, so I want to take classes at RISD if I enroll at Brown. hahahah I already have everything planned;)
My favorite designers are Marc Jacobs and Phoebe Philo (she designs Chloe).
Anyways, I'm sooo excited for next yr!

I love Marc Jacobs too. Today, I was reading the March/05 issue of People (or was it November/04? I can't remember) and there was a page of Lil' Kim in Marc Jacobs.

Er... Marc Jacobs never looked so bad, IMO.

marc = my life.. not really, but it is the best

OMG I LOVE Mrs. Dalloway and no one else seems to. Anyone a Buffy freak?

I tried 8 times to read Mrs Dalloway and never got past page 28. It just put me right to sleep.

BUFFY. I have been obsessed since I was 8. I absolutely adore James Marsters and Anthony Stewart Head (and of course, the rest of the cast).

Although, I never really got into Angel (I can't stand him) until the later seasons (especially the last one). Who else was completely not satisfied with the ending?

So yeah, I'm a HUGE Buffy freak.

Oh Effulgent, we would get along great. I'm an Anya lover myself...

Yeah, I always tell people to read Mrs. Dalloway with a rubber band on their wrist so that they can snap themselves awake while reading it, lol.

So what is everyone looking forward to most about Brown? I like the lack of core myself. And the city.

I'm looking forward to classes at RISD, no core, and talking about marxism over tea late at night (haha, I read that in a guide book I think).

Anya was such a brilliant character. Joss Whedon is a god.

I'm looking forward to the people. Intellectual atmosphere=is it a myth or not? I can't say I've ever been in one that was larger than 10 feet in depth.

Effulgent and shoegal2 - ahhh I know... MJ is the best! I mean, his designs. But I agree Effulgent, I don't know about his appearance lol (not to be superficial or anything;))

ParisKM - You're the first person I've known besides me that likes Mrs. Dalloway!! All my friends hate it. hahahah We would totally get along*

By the way, I'm definitely looking forward to the no core, classes at RISD, and just the general environment of the school (lots of greenery, but not in the rural area and has cute shops). Also, of course the intelligent yet fashionable and interesting students at Brown. Didn't WWD nominate Brown as the most fashionable ivy?

RISD?

extra characters

Rhode Island School of Design. One of the best in the country in its category.

no core, actually encouraging students to take classes pass/fail (everywhere else it's almost looked down upon), the city, the people, the atmosphere, the buildings, the professors.....discussing marx over tea late at night...

i hope brown admissions officers love me as much as i love them

haha i know, i wish there was some way they could tell how genuine some of us are. Hopefully we'll be discussing marxism over tea late at night, im glad someone else interested
