Brown 2022 Waitlist

I mean, you could’ve been slightly hopeful given that Brown has accepted at least 32 students from the waitlist for the past 8 years (with the exception of one) - so there was always a chance, but not this year.

Well this sucks

No. That said, the odds of getting off the waitlist are small. If you get lecky, great. But in the meantime, send in a deposit to another school and love the school that loves you back.

Didn’t they say in the letter that they don’t think it will be impossible to admit students from the waitlist?

@snaccbrown That is exactly what my mom’s friend said. The waitlist was used as a nice rejection and it will unlikely be used.

that was just them being nice to us lol @lesjubilants

Check out my comment at #18. Idk if I’m doing something wrong, but judging from Brown’s needed yield rate, IDK how they’d ever use the waitlist this year.

1000 people are on the waitlist. Around 32/1000 will be picked. so basically impossible :frowning:

Where’d you get 32? I think it’ll be 0 this year.

No. Read the letter again, although it could have been worded better (emphasis mine on the below)

In other word, they feel that they may go to the WL. But until they know the yield, nothing is certain. Even still, it will be relatively few students that get off the WL.

The yield rate is going to be higher this year

Ivy Acceptance rates – class of 2022

Harvard: 4.6%; admitted 1,962 of 42,749
Princeton: 5.5%; admitted 1,941 of 35,370
Columbia: 5.5%; admitted 2,214 of 40,203
Yale: 6.3%; admitted 2,229 of 35,306
Brown: 7.2%; admitted 2,566 of 35,438
Penn: 8.4%; admitted 3,731 of 44,491
Dartmouth: 8.7%; admitted 1,925 of 22,033
Cornell: 10.3%; admitted 5,288 out of 51,328

How many of you guys accepted and rejected the waitlist offer?

I rejected the offer and have committed to another school. wbu?

I accepted but i understand its just a sugarcoated rejection. For once it seems the odds of getting off the wait list are higher at Harvard than Brown, so staying on for that one too. Committing to Duke and couldn’t be happier.

@nrtlax33 , can you provide the link from @iwannabe_Brown about how to get off the waitlist? I was unable to find it. Thanks!

I googled “iwannabe_Brown wait list” and found http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/brown-university/328709-waitlist-advice.html .

Quite a few schools such as Harvard, Cornell, etc. ,which are obsessed with admission rates, are admitting students from wait list into either next year’s class or spring enrollment. This is a clear attempt to manipulate admission rate. I think more and more students will be admitted from the wait list in the future. Don’t give up so easily. You definitely want to show intense interest.

I have heard and read throughout that applications for Class of 2022 for many schools have been greatly competitive this year, and tbh idk if that’s good or not for that means that competing will become more intense.

Oddly enough, there is someone who got into Stanford with pretty much a full ride but rejected from Brown so the odds for this school seem smaller and smaller every passing day.

just to put some stats for reference on my behalf:
Waitlisted for Women and Gender Studies
GPA: UW 3.93, W 4.36 with 12 APs

SAT: English 600, Math 530; 1130 (rather low considering the competition)
ACT: 23 Composite (terrible at math and science)

Extra: Japanese and Korean Club (founder), Cheer Varsity Captain (2 years), Safe School Ambassador, Legislative Internship, 130 hours of community service and going, Pan-Asian Club

Essays: pretty strong 9/10

Accepts; UCR, Uni of Wisiconsin-Madison, Berkeley
Waitlist: UCI, Brown and Wellesley
Rejected: Uni of Notre Dame, Wesleyan

I just have this gut feeling that I’ll be picked from the waitlist, and I hope you all feel the same. At least we get to dream big lol
