psychotickevin, I love how everyone makes everything to be about affirmative action. How do you know that the OP wasn't just applying to Brown as a reach school? The OP never said they had "a shot" at Brown. Plently of people apply to schools out of their range. Try to grow up a little.

if the OP believes that he has no shot, he wouldn't have applied

Right...because you can read minds. Plenty of people apply "just for the hell of it." The don't think they will get in; they just apply so they won't regret it later. Everyone who applies has "a chance," even if it's not a good one.

haha i applied on a whim. i submitted most of my applications on November 26th, and originally wasn't going to apply to Brown, but i did just for the hell of it. I think i have a 1% chance of getting in and I used (probably wasted) my 70 dollars on that 1%. I absolutely don't think I'll get in solely because I'm hispanic, but I do think its a booster.

haha worth27- you just put me in the best mood ever
kailyn- it depends on the college you are applying to, but it usually can't hurt especially if you are black or hispanic.

Would you really want to get into a school JUST because of your race?... You wouldn't feel weird about that at all? I'm kinda glad I'm white, because then I'll never have to wonder if they only took me because of how I look. I dunno.

Even for a URM, which is a boost, the ACT is a killer. Maybe if you were an inner city, poor hispanic rather than one going to private school the break would be bigger, but still don't think the 27 would do it.

i applied to brown because its highly ranked in the major that i want to study (IR) . I have absolutely not problem if they want me solely because of my race haha I just hope i get in. I don't really expect to get in and think it is a farrrrrr reach for me, but i just wanted some other opinions.
