My son says that he didn’t the email that many of you talked about informing applicants of what time to check the portal. Is that going to be a problem?

So excited!!

My plan for opening decisions is to begin with the most difficult schools to get in to. My logic is that seeing a rejection letter from Princeton first will not necessarily mean a rejection from Dartmouth is forthcoming, but seeing a rejection from Dartmouth first would almost guarantee bad news from Princeton.

But other than that, I’m freaking out inside. Calc and Bio tests tomorrow- can’t even think about integrals and ecology right now. Haha who studies, anyways!?

Good luck everyone. I’ve been following these threads from afar for a few days now and thought it might be nice to post.

since none of my decisions come out at the same time (my Brown one is posted 5:30, only applied to one other Ivy and Emory and Duke come out later), I’ll just open them as they come. one good response and I’ll be over the moon!

@meghamind omg you feel me. and i hate this waiting. watch me pass out tomorrow at 5 because my karma is just excellent

@Carbajilia
Interesting logic!! My plan is pretty much the exact opposite. I’ll start with the ones I am more confident on, basically lesser of the 9 evils, and then go all the way down to my dream school: Yale. Brown is somewhere in the middle of that pack so I’ll see what happens. The idea is that if I can get into one of the first few schools, I can relax a bit because then I will know I have a great option in case nothing else pans out. If I don’t get into the first few schools, I will be hit HARD with some feelings. But as soon as those feelings pass, I have a more logically based mind which would tell me that I have no chance at any of the rest as they are all more competitive and harder to get into. Under that logic, if I don’t get into the remaining schools (which would be probable at this point) I won’t be too mad because I was already really really expecting it. However, if I can get wait-listed or accepted at one or more of those schools then BAM you have a pleasant surprise no matter what it is which will help stream-line things to the finish line of May 1st.

Anybody else back me up on this?

@matrixsurgeon, that’s exactly what I’m doing! I figured if I get accepted to Cornell or Penn, then I could go into Harvard and Princeton very confident but also very relaxed. I would already have some options (assuming I do actually get into one of the first schools I check) and I could relax a lot more because I know that I’m going somewhere really good.

Will you all be checking right away? In my time zone, the decisions will be released at 2:30 PM. I know that if I check right then, I won’t get any studying done, and I have 4 tests the next day… But honestly I probably won’t be able to wait until after I’m done studying to see the culmination of my entire academic career thus far…

Okay I can’t find my passkey and we are supposed to need that to check our portal tomorrow… I emailed the Admission Office but idk what to do if I don’t have it or they don’t resend it to me… GAHH

@meghamind, the passkey is just the same password you use when you log in to check your application status. Hopefully that helps if you weren’t sure!

@meghamind - do a reset - https://webapps.brown.edu/pwdreset

They said passkey was different from the passwords we selected ourselves and said we would need the passkey. I can try the reset, thanks!

Does anyone have the link for decisions from the email? I seem to have lost it in the bunch.

Hmmm I just looked at the original email they sent with my login info, and the one they give says “temporary Brown passkey,” so I’m assuming that we will use our that we created. I could be wrong though

Yea, you created a password.

Ok figured it out thank you

I got wait listed by Brown RD last year.

Since then I have increased my sat score by 120 points. Increased my SAT 2 scores by 70 and 100 points respectively, and written better essays as well as received better recommendations and a class rank of top 10%.

Just trying to make sure it’s 10x as painful when I’m rejected again this year

@posterguy did you take a gap year? If so, what did you do?

Today’s the day…

We should play some sort of game so we can keep our minds off of it.
