Any other PLME applicants here? Its double nerve-wrecking to be receiving a decision from Brown as well as one of the country’s most competitive undergraduate special programs!! I would more than happy to receive an acceptance from Brown let alone PLME as well!!

@Schoolapalooza Brown’s CS program is definitely one of the best ones in the country, and it’s definitely true that a lot of companies recruit here. We recently had our first hackathon too, Hack@Brown (you should check it out.)

As for the difficulty level, I’d say the CS Department does a great job of offering courses for all experience levels. We have 3 different intro courses, for example, and almost all fields (AI, Animation, Programming Languages etc.) have multiple courses for those looking to study them deeply. In addition, you always have the opportunity to take graduate level courses (I’m taking one next Spring), and undergraduate research opportunities are abundant (I do Graphics research.)

Good luck with your decision!

@book05 I’m from India!

@Scc444 Great to hear you’re interested in the VISA program!

Brown’s VISA program is a good one, but not particularly well known. We have some great faculty, and students from across the university can and do take courses in the department (yay Open Curriculum!). Collaboration with other departments is huge, and I know a lot of students studying design, engineering, computer science, biology and other subjects who are also concentrating in VISA. Some great student groups to check out are Hack@Brown, our first hackathon, A Better World By Design, a conference focused on social design, and Brown + RISD STEAM (STEM + Arts).

Also, Brown has the unique and fortunate position to be right next to the Rhode Island School of Design, which is one of the best design schools in the country. Students at both universities collaborate a lot through student groups and projects, and can take courses at the other university freely. I’ll be taking some Graphic Design and Industrial Design classes at RISD soon too!

@theBlueMarble

Wow, thank you so much for all the info! It sounds like an amazing program. I heard about the Brown + RISD program but the main thing that’s turning me away is the 5th year requirement.

@Scc44 That’s true, the dual-degree program needs you to stay 5 years, and also needs you to be accepted to both Brown and RISD. Good luck with your decision!

@matrixsurgeon I applied PLME but I don’t expect anything on that front… They take 100 students a year from what I read

I’m so nervous. I keep checking the site in hopes that they post it earlier by accident. Haha

@meghamind
I agree with you on not expecting anything. I don’t think that ANYONE applying for those types of programs should expect much cause the numbers show the complete opposite. Like you said, they accepted around 115 total out of like 2259 applicants last year.

@matrixsurgeon @meghamind I applied to PLME as well! It’s such a long shot but getting in would be incredible.

@matrixsurgeon @meghamind @pacip1 My D also applied to the PLME program. I read that they received 2,915 applicants this year, a 22-percent increase over last year. Good luck to each of you!

I’m going to find out all my ivy decisions on the bus home lol.

Good luck everyone! We’re approaching the final 60 minutes of waiting!
