Brown Class of 2019 Early Decision Applicants

does anyone know how many people have applied ED this year? i have seen other schools post their numbers, but I haven’t heard from Brown yet… does anybody know?

can someone tell me if PLME REQUIRES a SAT Subject test. the website says that they highly recommend one science sub test.
if one needs to submit a SAT II scores, then do you think the score needs to be above 750?

The website says,

Applicants are required to submit results of either (1) the SAT Reasoning Test and any two SAT Subject Tests b**, or (2) the results of the ACT which takes the place of both the SAT Reasoning Test and the SAT Subject Tests. If choosing the ACT, you must take it with the Writing Test option. bold added.

http://www.brown.edu/academics/medical/plme/information-prospective-students/admission

What did you read on the website that gave you doubt that SAT 2 was required in absence of ACT? What did you read on the website that said a science SAT 2 test was just recommended in absence of ACT?

I have no information about Admissions Office policy on SAT 2 cutoff scores. My sense is that an otherwise admissible candidate is not rejected solely on the basis of an SAT 2 score of 740 or 730 or something like that. But that is pure guess.

@fenwaypark - this is exactly what i am reading too.My D has submitter her ACT (35) and SAT I that she took twice
i think the superscore of the SAT Is equates to a 35 as well. but someone sent me the link below and i am confused. my understanding was that if you submit ACT with writing, that is good enough and you do not have to submit your SAT IIs so that they could consider just your ACT scores. this is the link i got <a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University;

The relevant text in the link you provided says,

We require either the SAT Reasoning Test and any two SAT Subject Tests
or the ACT (with writing component).

This is consistent with what I posted from the Brown PLME page. Can you clarify the confusing language?

You are posting in connection with the ED application already submitted by your daughter in October, right? Are you asking whether you may amend the application or submit new information? I will defer to others on that.

@fenwaypark - yes, i see that but under the secion “School Forms” on the link i sent you, it says:
In addition, we highly recommend that applicants to the PLME program submit results for at least one science SAT Subject Test.
we have submitted only the ACT scores of my D as her SAT II Bio is only 710. math is 770 - so we decided to use just the ACT as she got a 35 and my understanding was that you only need to submit your SAT IIs if you want Brown to consider your SAT I vs the ACT. and then, now i see this and i am confused.
yes, my D has done ED for PLME . after seeing the above language, i am confused and panicked as her Bio scores are not above 750 - thats why i posted to get some opinions and thoughts/inputs.
i see that you are also saying that you submit either SAT (I & II) or ACT.
the only confusiion is that stmt under the school forms now.

I see the sentence you have referred to. You are correct that the language is not consistent with two other explanations cited above. The language on the PLME page seems most detailed, and if I were betting, I would bet on that. But bottom line, I cannot definitively resolve the inconsistency. Maybe someone else can help.

I’m still waiting for emails or phone calls from brown and interviewer… so tedious though!

so i had a grade problem that was kind of old and recently changed it, but only
after i sent my transcripts. it changed my algebra 2 honors grade in sophomore year from a c to a b and changed my gpa (weighted) from 4.728~ to 4.75, but didnt changed my class rank or anything else. is this significant enough to send my transcripts again? should i call admissions and ask?

Is anyone here from the Midwest?

here!

Oh hey!! Good luckkk :)

@miniminnie15 - Good Luck to you too…

@miniminnie15‌ I’m from the Midwest too.
And my interview is today!

Just got my login info and I applied on nov 1

finally got my email confirmation! now just waiting for an interview contact. i know someone from my school was interviewed last year, so i expect an alumni to be in my area.

@Condensed711‌ ahhhh good luck! i didn’t think the interview was too bad. It was really just like a normal conversation

You guys…I don’t know if I can survive waiting over a month for this. I’m freaking out O.o

@miniminnie15‌ Thanks!

I don’t know if I can wait, either. But I guess I’ll just focus on overcoming senioritis. :))

For future reference, I applied on October 31st, got a phone call from my interviewer on November 6th, and I just received my BrownAccount information today (November 10th).
