I’m thrilled to have been accepted! There just aren’t even words to explain how excited I am. I was bracing myself for a deferral because of the sheer number of applicants, but I was totally blown away when I logged onto self service.

[] Weaknesses: MATH SCORE. Absolutely awful. I haven’t done the subject for 2 years and they expect me to do as well as all you americans?! it was never a strength anyway. Apart from that, I guess my privileged circumstances and mainstream ethnicity don’t exactly help.

I also expressed my love of learning for the sake of learning and my ability to be a self-directed learner. I also think my First-Gen college student/low-income/high achieving status helped as well.

Congrats to all that were accepted and good luck to deferred/denied applicants. The entire day decisions were out, I dreaded finding out my decision because I thought there was no way I could be accepted and I didn’t want to return to the reality of completing more college apps! I am so blessed and thankful for my opportunities and I expressed that in all of my essays/ECs/etc. To future ED/RD applicants, please do not fret and try to write about what you think Brown is looking for. It’s cliched but true. Don’t try to list too many things — be a concise/concentrated applicant the admission committee can remember: quality over quantity!

Like what my interviewer told me before we parted ways, “Miracles can happen!”

[] Why you think you were accepted/deferred/rejected: Besides my weaknesses listed above, I think that my chances were definitely significantly diminished as I stated that I only wanted to be considered ED to Brown if I got into PLME. This made the chance that I would get in go from 20% to 4.39%, which is obviously a huge jump. 
[] Where else were you accepted/deferred/rejected: So far, I have been accepted to my state schools…but that’s it. Hoping for a successful regular decision cycle!!

**General Comments: ** While I honestly was expecting to get deferred, it still hurt quite a lot obviously. Guess I’ll just have to wait until April!! It’s kind of nice that I can apply to other schools that I was really interested in as well, so there’s always an upside! Just persevere, and it’ll all work out in the end.
