How are you guys approaching the supplements with the word limit and without being cliche and boring? Every time I try to write them (with the exception of the community and ec supps) I just feel like I can’t convey anything eloquently within the limits. also feel generic
UGH still trying to struggle through the remainder of my applications. Anyone in the same boat?
@violintigress I kind of just became cliched. It’s really difficult to do anything outside of the “i like your lack of core and the cities nice” in 100 words.
@tuty143 You talk about how Brown’s liberal curriculum would allow one to maximize one’s strengths while simultaneously minimizing weaknesses.
Does anyone know what they want in the “Where you have lived” mini-essay? Are they just looking for a very straightforward answer or can/should you expound on how where you lived has affected you etc?
@wanttobeabrick I heard it can be either or. I have lived in two places so I just wrote about those two and the years I moved. Very straightforward.
just submitted now time to wait three months…oh boy
Hey guys! Brown is one of my top choices as well! I had a lot of luck in the Early Action round (Accepted MIT and UChicago), but I’m holding out for Brown I just really hope I get in!
@m4xw3ll Bro, MiT. MiT, bro. I’m just saying - MiT.
haha thanks. I’m so glad im in, and really hope i can get into Brown too! @McKilla99
hey guys! im struggling through these apps too lol but i was wondering if you guys are submitting your ap scores? i have two 5s, two 4s, and two 3s. ive heard ap scores dont rly matter in admissions but ive also heard that they can help and not submitting them may lead them to assume the worst? idk im conflicted…bc two 3s u know
Anyone want to help me by editing and critiquing my essay? Would be a huge favor
@roadtotheivies98 i can help ya out if you would like. i submitted recently so i have some down time. PM me!
does anyone else get a much more chill vibe off this RD thread than the others? idk why but it’s straight up adorable
@RoadtotheIvies98 I’m willing to help
@freshegg I wouldn’t say chill, we’re probably just not as active on cc
Hey guys! International applying to brown rd!! Question: What do they mean by tell us about a skill or concept related to your anticipated area of study that you found challenging and rewarding to learn? Do they want to know what was the challenge and how you overcame it or do they want to see the actual equation(integration question in this case)?
And with the listing of courses. I’m a caribbean student so I do CAPE subjects. Do they want to know specifically what I did math and cs (what im applying for) for eg. Integration I ? Should I just write CAPE Pure Math and CAPE Computer Science?
Pressing that submit button feels so good!!! Ahaha, and as others have said the Brown threads do feel very relaxed… unlike many other schools, hope it’s like this at Brown too! Can’t remember who else it was but my only concern for any of my apps is my gpa which is 3.63/3.89 unweighted/weighted lol oh well, it is what it is. I got deferred from Harvard, so I guess it can’t be that bad in light of everything else I got going for me! Also, my first CC post!!! :-bd
Just sent away my application! Student from Northern Ireland hoping to major in Economics. Incredibly nervous for my college decisions in March/April due to the cost of applying to US unis…
Man, these word limits are killing me. How did you guys handle the “where have you lived” question if you’ve lived in one place? And would being in a band be okay for the community that has impacted you question?
