@sciencenerd123 Brown would love to have a Bowdoin alumnus for a graduate student!
@cutepug I would be too bitter to go!!! Haha. Brown had their chance!!!
The number of students admitted from the wait-Iist each year is different. However I have figured out last year’s number as follows:
(1) From (http://www.browndailyherald.com/2017/03/30/u-admits-record-low-8-3-percent-applicants-class-2021/), 2027 RD + 695 ED were admitted. The total is 2722.
(2) From (https://news.brown.edu/articles/2017/09/firstyear), The University admitted 2,801 students, yielding a matriculating class of 1,643.
So 79 (2801-2722) candidates were later admitted from wait-list last year.
not sure if this has been addressed, but did the ppl with IDOC documents on the Brown financial aid portal get accepted?
Rejected from Harvard and Brown, DD disappointed since she had her heart set on brown (not that we can afford it!).
Accepted to good mid-tier schools with excellent merit scholarships (RPI, WPI, NEU, BU, PC). Upper Middle Class WF. All in all it’s been an adventure, this whole process is crazy! Time to make some decisions. Good luck to everyone … Can’t wait to go through all this again in two years
Accepted! Congrats to all!
@kvpop1 Nope.
@kvpop1. Yes!
@sciencenerd123
I am so sorry to hear you did not get in. My feeling is also very mixed today. My son got in Brown today but my D got rejected, though Brown is really a top choice for her. Fortunately my D has another Ivy League school and several other excellent schools to choose from. Good luck to you and I am sure that you will do well at any other school
@nrtlax33 Hahaha thank you!!
@kvpop1 Yes.
Let the record show I’ve only seen two ED deferred peeps claim they saw IDOC docs and were still rejected. I have my doubts they’re being truthful, but I digress. For all other RD peeps the IDOC signal was 100% accurate. Those who saw their docs on the portal were admitted, those who didn’t were rejected/waitlisted.
Saw the IDOC and waitlisted.
@trishty Your previous post says you chose not to submit any financial aid documents to any colleges. So how did Brown retrieve and display your non-existent IDOC docs on the Brown portal?
@kvpop1 yes! To future applicants, I believe that if you find yourself having extra documents fulfilled in the brown financial aid portal it is a very good sign. For Dartmouth I was also contacted by FA people in february and was accepted today as well!
@maplesurrup ,
Congrats! Are you International asking for financial aid? If yes could you please post
your stats and country of origin? It would be great help for international applicants!!
ED Deferred… IDOC docs uploaded a few days before ED decision… RD = Denied!!! Onward I must go…
Twins, 1 accepted, 1 rejected.
The financial aid portal is true. I have twins they both applied, about 1 month ago 1 daughters portal stayed with just the CSS and Fafsa, the other daughters changed with 12 items checked off as complete and she had 3 financial aid messages in her message box. All their friends who applied and didnt get in their portal stayed the same, no change.
DD1 accepted UPENN and Columbia, rejected Brown
DD2 accepted UPENN, Brown, Columbia, Yale, waitlisted Princeton.
I was placed on the wait list!! I am very pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting a rejection, so this is great news! I know my chances of getting off the waitlist are dismal, so does anyone have any tips on how to do it (besides writing a LOCI)? Brown is still my dream school and I would do anything to get in.
what do you guys think, Brown or University College London?
Some were incomplete and we left that way. Brown complete.
