hi new friends
i just saw that harvard results came out today (i know i’m so late) and now i’m SHAKING. i want to go to brown more than i have ever wanted anything else… and i want to know the results but at the same time, i don’t, i’m too nervous
@geugen yeah, I agree with you. However, Trump supporters inherently support violence against me and people like me (LGBT and particularly trans people, immigrants), which is why I no longer have the patience to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have had some positive interactions with anti-Trump Republicans but I still strongly disagree with them and believe that a lot of Republican views are inherently harmful, though they do not automatically make the people who support them evil
If anyone is very anxious I highly recommend listening to Cat Stevens. For some reason his music is very soothing.
Oh @sciencenerd123 I was gonna get so excited because I do FRC!
@sunshiine14 I know the feeling! I have a ton of friends who got into Cornell, Harvard, etc. The wait is killing me
“inherently”
@sciencenerd123 Whether it comes out at 4 or 5, I’m most likely going to be on the subway, and I don’t want to get emotional in a train car full of strangers, but I also know I can’t wait
@cynyuen sorry if this is strange, but I’m always curious when people say they know a lot of people who got into Ivies- what region (or country I guess) do you live in, and do you go to private or public school? My school is considered one of the best public schools in the state by academic performance, but it is chronically underfunded, and in the Midwest, and we only have at most 1-2 people go to Ivies a year- 0 last year, out of graduating classes of 500+
I am literally going to cry in response to any possible outcome–deferral (I will cry), rejection (I will cry), acceptance (I will cry).
Oh big big mood @sciencenerd123. I will also be highly surprised by an acceptance or a rejection. I’m mostly expecting a deferral.
I’m considering filming a reaction video haha
If I get in I will start one of those college application advice youtube channels lol
Thursday is a reading (finals prep, aka no class) day for the university I take math at so I’ve already made a plan that after high school classes I will go do some treat yo self shopping and then come home an hour before decisions, take a bath, and then check the response in bed when I am maximally post-bath fresh pajamas comfy
@astrobiodreams I live in NYC, which has a “specialized high school” system not unlike the SATs, except that one test determines which of the specialized high schools you have the option of attending (I won’t go into too much detail here). Our school is fairly well known for sending a lot of the students (usually a decent % a ~800 graduating class) to Ivies, or at least more competitive schools.
Let’s do a college advice youtube channel together if we both/all get accepted lol
SAME @sciencenerd123 there’s so much I wish I knew before starting the college application process
oh my gosh I agree with literally everything said on this thread lol. I really hope we can all see each other at Brown next year I really love the political climate at Brown and hearing the way all of you are so open-minded and passionate really makes me excited to even potentially be part of such a great group of people.
also, ahh I have so much anxiety about hearing back from Brown and hearing about many other people in my school getting into ivies already is stressing me out!!
I know a few other people in my school applied ED/EA to Ivies and Stanford and they’ve all been rejected, not deferred, so far so that’s worrying me even more than if they’d gotten in
I love this thread so much!! This makes me want to go to Brown even more
@mackblue me too! I’d heard so many horrible things about College Confidential from people I know in real life and on studyblr, but you guys are all so nice and interesting and I really hope I get to meet you!
