@bogeyorpar Yeah, itâs probably a coincidence. I put my concentration as Biomedical Engineering and my interviewer studied History. Guess itâs a blessing and a curseâon one hand, your son will really need to articulate his passion for this subject and his knowledge because his interviewer will know so much about it, but on the other hand if he is truly very passionate/knowledgeable about the subject then he will connect more with his interviewer. I personally liked that my interviewer was totally a non-STEM person because I sounded really smart when I talked about science-y things and he had know idea what I was talking about :)).
I think bcuz Brown unlike most colleges is Need - based and doesnât prioritize F.A whereas other schools require financial status as application criteria. @sciencenerd123@wings17
@ashley676 : Brown does not track campus visit. Even if you sign up for a campus visit, when you arrive, there is no official sign-in. You do want to find some way to convince AOs âwhy Brownâ, if you donât even have a chance to visit campus.
guys i still havenât got a interview request should i be worried? I live in maryland region where Im pretty sure there must be at least one alumni aroundâŠ
Also I accidentally put not applying for financial aid on commonapp and emailed them asking to change that status. They only gave un automated response and never replied. Will this negatively affect my application? If they didnât reply can be assured that they did indeed change my status? I am so worried rn
@feast1n8 : Although I am in no way suggesting that Brown is doing the way Yale does, here is what I glean from a trusted source (@BKSquared) from a Yale thread for you to consider ( the numbers of applicants for Brown and Yale are about the same) -----
" Just some statistics for everyone stressing over what it means if you havenât received an interview request yet. There are approximately 11,000 interviewers who collectively complete about 18,000 interviews a year. There were about 33,000 applications last year, which means almost half of all applicants did not get interviews. There are plenty of students who get in who did not get an interview, and the overwhelming majority of those who do get an interview, get rejected. There is always speculation that the interview lists are culled. I have no knowledge of that. As an interviewer, we are assigned interviewees that come from a list from the AO. "
It implies not such thing; in fact, it states the opposite.
One can certainly spend time speculating, because, I guess thatâs what applicants like to do while awaiting decisions. However, IMO, such speculation is pointless.
@TheOldTimer wow thank u for the information but this honestly makes me even more scared by the fact that I simply could have not made it passed the AOâs interview worthy list. At this point, should I assume im not getting an interview?
@feast1n8 : Brown is a reach school for everyone. As @skieurope pointed out, there is no point in speculation. If you read the âfirst cutâ thread, you already have a pretty good idea how the whole admissions process works at top schools. Just keep your fingers crossed. Best luck to you.
@TheOldTimer Thank you again for helping me out here. I actually did submit my fafsa and IDOCs through CSS on time. Its just that i accidentally marked as no for a question on common app that asked if i intend to apply for financial aid. I notified them almost a day after deadlines about my mistake and sincerely apolgized for it. Do u know if this will still negatively affect my chances? I feel so helpless rn because this was the very school I wanted to go to and I cant believe I made this dumb mistake.
