Brown Class of 2022 Applicants Discussion

Is it true that an A minus is not considered a 4.0 to Brown when they are calculating GPA’s?

also anyone know the lowest SAT score Brown has admitted?

My D had her interview last night, and interviewer told her it would still be ‘taken into account’.

Sorry for ignorance, what is QB? Ty.

QB = QuestBridge @mhop72

Questbridge is a program for high achieving low income applicants.

ah, I have never heard of that. Thank you, both.

@collegedreamer167 I see nobody answered you! Somebody out there may actually know the answer but I can just say, generally, that an A is a 4.0 and an A- is a 3.7. I’d guess that is pretty standard. But the more relevant point may be…what does this distinction really matter? There are SO many differences across schools in how they assign those different letter grades (e.g., is a 93 an A or an A-), and even in how tough it is to get each letter grade. I just don’t think that Brown Admissions will obsess over that distinction and neither should you! Your entire application packet speaks for you and whether that single grade is a 4.0 or a 3.7 isn’t going to change anything. Best of luck to you!

@collegedreamer167 In addition to what @profdad2021 said, I would add, you need to file it under “it is what it is.” Whether Brown recalculates GPA for admissions and how they do so is out of your control, so no point in worrying.

@profdad2021 got it! Thank you!

I think most colleges have made the decisions already, but for some reason they’re holding until the end of the month

I am worried now. I did not get a likely letter. I’ve already been accepted to UT Plan II but I really wanted to go out of state. Brown is my dream/ reach. I am trying to keep my hopes low.

I just noticed on my brown portal that a link to view my financial aid information was added, when i opened it, it said current undergraduate financial package and award. Did anyone else get this?

@Harvard2022maybe I just logged on and saw a link to see my financial aid status, which then had a link to see the current undergraduate financial package. Is that what you’re talking about?

Do you have a complete financial aid package inside?

For me there is a such a link but it says “Current Award Information” but there is nothing in that link.

@collegeplz2018 yeah that’s it, i also managed to get redirected to the brown website where u can qdd courses, and I’m logged in with what apparently looks like my account.

I can do that too. However, I would not think anything of that. I don’t want to get my hopes up and get rejected on the 28th.

How do you guys get to that page where you can add courses?

Do you guys mean the header that says “Financial Aid Status” above the application checklist? If so, I’m pretty sure that’s always been there – at least, it was around two weeks ago when Brown asked me for 2017 financial aid info.

@Harvard2022maybe @person2000 I’ve been able to do that all along. I don’t think you should get excited about it.
