also, it happened under all 3 tabs (under FA) “Personal Information”“Student” and “Financial Aid”…before it used to say something like I wasn’t allowed to access this
What are you clicking after you get to the Student tab?
all 3 of those tabs open up boxes that want me to type in my ID and PW. It’s super glitchy though. If I open up a new tab and do it again it just looks like it did in the past. But then, 10 minutes later, I can arrow back and forward, and poof, the login box appears again. FYI-I’m using a very old MAC OS so maybe that’s why. I wouldn’t read that much into it
and also it says above the ID and PW boxes :Please enter your Username and Password. When finished, select Login.
Please Note: Username and Password are Case Sensitive.
To protect your privacy, please Exit and close your browser when you are finished.
Nothing’s really changed here for me. I doubt the login screen is indicative of anything.
I still don’t know what to make of the fact that they emailed me asking for the 2017 tax returns earlier this month. I’ve been accepting into multiple CSS schools already, all of which asked me to upload them after I was admitted. There was a debate on the Princeton thread about financial aid messages, and I know “Missing Documents” means nothing since it’s automated, but the fact that (a.) a human already read my Additional Info on the CSS to know there have been significant changes between 2016 and 2017 and (b.) they’re taking steps to rectify it before an initial package is contemplated/offered is quite interesting. Not a single other school I applied to has asked the same of me.
yeah, it’s all probably meaningless. It just doesn’t say “these options are for enrolled students” anymore so I was wondering if that was the same for everyone or not. As far as tax stuff, I have no idea, can’t be a bad sign though
Wow, I just caught up on all the posts for the last 10 pages or so.
Am I the only one who doesn’t have the financial aid status link? That’s pretty sad… We didn’t ask for financial aid tho.
@caleegalee nope, you’re not alone. we just have to miss out on all these hidden secrets…
@NYcollege2022 & @caleegalee
Don’t worry. I am sure it does not affect negatively your admission decision the fact that you don’t need/asked for financial aid…
@harper3125 does it let you click submit photo for ID?
what options/links were turned “on” for you that were off before?
I haven’t been on the applicant portal in like a month, let alone memorizing what I can and cant access at what times lol you guys are really dissecting this!
Does anyone know of instances where students get accepted with below average SAT II scores and AP scores? My regular SAT score is fine but I am really worried about myself because of the fact that the others are below average. I probably shouldn’t fret too much because what’s done is done-- hopefully my essays stand out.
@LazyRay literally same man
@LazyRay An “average” score is not a “minimum” score. Of course there are admitted students whose scores are below average…
DO you each have the portal “check my application” and access to something called “self-service at brown” ? The first uses your present email and the second uses a “username” (not email?)
I think it’s just a systems glitch, we do not have a brown user name OR brown ID that I have seen anywhere. Just the portal and the Banner ID (shown to those who have applied for FA, but everyone has one).
Lots of interlinking things, will be interesting to see what changes occur when the work week starts again.
I do think its all meaningless. But I also like the speculation and possibility of it.
@mhop72 It does not seem like a system glitch, it is what should be. Admission office and FA office are different branches on different systems, the admission office mostly uses Slate CRM system while the FA office may use PeopleSoft or PowerFAIDS, thus requires different logins. If one didn’t apply for FA, then no need to create an account in FA office.
After all, even you has already been admitted by Brown, but YOU have not accepted the offer, no contract, not a Brown student yet. It will be foolish for Brown to open its system’s door to some one who has not legally bound to Brown. I am not sure how Brown calculates it tuition, if it is by # of credits, then allowing applicants to access course selection makes sense for financial planning purpose. If it is by semester, i.e., pay the same tuition for a range of credits, then I don’t see any reason to grant access to non-student.
its killing me i wanna know
@mhop72 pretty sure the self-service portal is the same as the financial aid portal but w/ more options for enrolled students.
agreed, perhaps a better term would be a “quirk” of the system. Lots of overlap.
@harper3125 Under the student tab, for me, it states " For Summer 2016 and beyond, to search and add courses to your cart, use Brown’s new Course Search Tool - Courses@Brown."
Do you see that as well? I don’t see a username and PW box pop up.
