@waterinthesink We are from LI also. Cheers.
@leftycurve Nassau or Suffolk? I’m on the south shore of Nassau county? Good luck!!
@waterinthesink My son is applying. We’re in Western Nassau also on the South Shore. Good luck to you as well.
Have you reached out to your coach?
did anyone get likely letters? i thought those got sent out to get you to enroll during the RD admissions cycle - help me out if i’m wrong!
@Mwfan1921 yeah he said he is still waiting on admissions
I just joined this website, I applied RD with a 27 ACT and 3.87 GPA UW from NE Texas. Highly doubt I will get in but its worth a try… Someone told me to apply to an Ivy and they think despite my stats I have a decent chance at getting in since I am a Latino from a rural area…
Hey @basicluis I like your honest and open approach. Yeah, you might not have a great chance with a 27 ACT but it’s sure, you have a shot… and it’s refreshing to hear from someone not stressed out to the max. Wherever you end up going, you’ll add a unique perspective to campus, coming from rural TX… best of luck.
Someone had posted the link to ADOCH. Where did that come from??
Could me sending in my CSS Profile a couple of days ago have any effect on my decision at all? I had no idea Brown required it (ik i’m clueless) until recently so I got on it as soon as I found out.
@crueee With my own research and reading the rest of this thread, it should not matter. Brown is one of the only actually need-blind colleges, so they would probably ask for your financial aid forms if you get in anyway Don’t worry right now though!
@crueee Regarding decision, none. However, the satisfaction of your economic needs would technically up to you and your family. Had you sent it earlier, your acceptance (i think) could have included some updates on your FA. Worst case scenario, you just have to negotiate with Brown over FA.
does anyone else want to cry
Lots of people in my class will start to get decisions tomorrow and throughout this week so the mood has become pretty tense. Three others from my school applied ED to Brown so I’m quite nervous myself! Wishing everyone the best outcome.
did anyone use their additional information section? or submit any supplemental writing through the portal? (aside from the required)
Just wondering why everyone is concerned with their application. There is pretty much nothing you could do that would change the results probably already decided. Just take a step back and stop over-stressing
@inquirer8612 I did both. I used the additional info section a little strangely tbh. It was more of a short essay style but it worked for me. I had no significant extenuating circumstances so I used the space to explain some low first sem junior year grades and how my mindset and actions changed.
I also submitted a graded paper which I think will work in my favor. It was strong writing and the teacher liked it enough to keep it as an example for future years, but I still got a B- due to some specifications. I think it’ll show how hard our school’s grading is and how I have the skills but sometimes fall short on the executive functioning
Good luck to everyone!
@theWriter28 - my son also submitted a graded English paper. It was from junior year, and his grade was a B. He just didn’t really have anything else to submit since he really hadn’t had a graded essay this year by the time the application went in. I’m also hoping it helps to show the grading standard at his school. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite him. But it is what it is at this point, right? At least it gave them a full picture. He’s either prepared for Brown or not.
I know it is pointless to ask this, but do you all think it would be a small advantage that I attend a public school in North Carolina (as opposed to an average private school in the northeast)?
It might, or it might not. Hard to say. When I was applying to college a million years ago, the person I ‘interviewed’ with at Williams basically told me I didn’t have a chance of getting in because I went to a small public school that they weren’t familiar with. On the other hand, my ex boyfriend who went to boarding school didn’t get in to the LAC that I went to - his Dad said his chances probably would have been better had he stayed at home and gone to public school because at his prep school, he was competing with all the other students there, and my college would only take so many kids from one school. I guess it just depends on whether Brown is looking for someone from a Southern public school to round out the class.
