Brown Class of 2023 Applicants Discussion

Hi, I applied to Brown early decision and was wondering when exactly they let applicants know admissions decisions and how they do so? Also, are there any signs before the decisions come out if you are accepted or not because I am very antsy.

Is being from MA going to hurt my chances since there’s most likely a large amount of ED applicants with better stats? I know the state is split between a few admissions officers, but I feel like I might get screwed over based on where I live.

What could be included as Supplementary materials on the Brown portal… I want to submit something but I don’t know what to submit.

Thank you! I am probably going to stay in state but I wanted to apply to an Ivy just to see if I could get in. Best of luck to you and everyone else applying!

Good luck to everyone!! Any news on when decisions are coming out?

@basicluis if you don’t know what to submit, then you likely don’t have anything to submit that would significantly add to your app. don’t send something just to send something. as yale says, “most successful applicants submit only the required application materials,” and im sure the same applies to brown.

How are we the only schools that doesn’t know the decision date yet??? It’s killing me!!!

I was looking through last year’s thread and they received an email about the official date the afternoon before, so it’ll probably be the same for us. Wow I’ve never been so anxious.

its gonna be thursday i believe

These are the release dates and times from the past several years so yes, it will most likely be this Thursday!

2017: 6 PM EST 12/14 (Thurs)
2016: 5 PM EST 12/14 (Wed)
2015: 5 PM EST 12/10 (Thurs)
2014: 5 PM EST 12/11 (Thurs)
2013: 5 PM EST 12/12 (Thurs)
2012: 5 PM EST 12/12 (Wed)

Thank you!

here as a RD applicant, rejection from Cornell ED :C

just a reminder: per the BDH, Brown got more ED applicants (good thing! more economic opportunity!) than they ever have, meaning it could—could! not necessarily will, but may nonetheless!—take them a little longer than it normally takes them to finish decisions (bad thing! more stress!), so a break from the pattern doesn’t seem entirely unlikely.

@EDtoEveryIvy69 what do you mean more economic opportunity

I personally think there is a good chance it will be Wednesday because somebody on Reddit called admissions and they said they would send an email with the date and time of decision release “early next week” (which I would consider to be Sunday through Tuesday, would not consider Wednesday to be early in the week). Also, that coupled with the knowledge that they never announce the date more than a day before I think points to a possible Wednesday (though this is just personal opinion and speculation).

The “early next week” statement was made last week

@apmaster10 so your saying they will email us tomorrow that it will come on wed?

@testingacct54321 that is my personal opinion/speculation.

Also it assumes that what the reddit person said was true
