what are your guy’s thoughts about the acceptance rate for this year. since we have the 20 additional percentage applying to brown ed do you guys think that they will keep it the same or possibly increase the rate?
@testingacct54321 I personally think it will stay roughly the same, because the early decision pool has been increasing for years, and the early decision acceptance rate has stayed about the same while the regular decision acceptance rate has dropped to compensate (last year, when the overall acceptance dropped from 9% to 7%, the regular decision acceptance rate dropped from 7% to 5%; the early decision acceptance rate dropped from 21.9% to 21.1%, a statistically insignificant decrease). Also, last year, the number of early decision applicants also increased (from 3,170 to 3,502; not as large of an increase, but still pretty large).
as in people who wouldn’t have traditionally been able to apply ED to brown because of the burden of the costs can now do so b/c they don’t do student loans anymore; i.e., they’re getting a lot more apps from regions/people they haven’t traditionally gotten them from which is generally a heartening thing I think for everyone
does anyone have a predicted ED admissions rate for this year?
@ofay2401 personally, using the data I most recently posted, I would expect the early decision admissions rate to stay within one percent of last year’s.
UPDATE: My school counsellor had been contacted by the admissions officer requesting grades and informing her that decisions will be released starting Thursday.
@tcrf15 - thanks for the update! I hope the request for more grades is a good omen for you! Good luck!
Hopping over from the Harvard EA thread, wishing you guys best of luck!! I’ll be applying to Brown PLME regular decision so I’m currently finishing the plethora of essays they need :((
@tcrf15 - are you an international applicant ???
Has any indian applicant till now been asked for Quaterly Grades…???
@rocky69 No.
Also does anyone on this group know any senior who has been accpeted without being asked for these quaterly grades…please respond guys!!!
how come other counselors did not get any call ? is she missing grades?
@tcrf15 - which town / state are you from?
My son"s guidance counselor was asked for first quarter grades. You can see on other threads that kids that have been accepted, rejected and deferred in previous years have been asked for these grades. It could be admissions officer dependent. It’s best not to read too much into this and just wait for the decision…
Ive read all of those. But is there anyone who wasn’t asked at all and still accepted.
I don’t see how Q Grades indicates something bad. They’d ask for more only if they were considering you. They have so much more work , why’d they increase their work load
100% agree with @HockeyMom557 . The request of grades probably has nothing to with decision.
I’m from a US Territory.
@Rocky69 Some admissions officers may like to have that info and some don’t feel like they don’t need it. One could also interpret that “sure things” don’t get asked for first quarter grades since they already have enough to say yes…it’s impossible to know.
It’s official. Thursday at 6pm.
