For Brown ED applicants – is the notification date a specific day in Dec like it is for some other colleges (most commonly Dec 15th)? Or is it really just some day in mid-Dec?
they’ll tell you later. Ivy league coordinates this
@ahardboiledegg Honestly be frank. My why brown essay was literally about the outlets on the lamppost on the quiet green and how I felt that gave me a sense about the laidback vibe at brown and that I really loved it
really? I wrote about the renaissance and humanism and somehow made it fit
I took the interview. I didn’t want to do a video because I believe that my personality isn’t something that can be revealed in a two-minute clip. Honestly, I feel having a single conversation with me accomplishes a lot more if you want to know who I am.
Have people who are applying ED already been contacted by alums to set up interview times? I’m starting to get nervous because I chose an alum interview on my portal but I haven’t heard anything yet…I emailed Brown interviewing but haven’t received a response
Haven’t heard about an alumni interview yet either - I did notice there is a date of 11/9 listed on their website as a deadline to request interviews so maybe they will start scheduling after that date

I contacted the admissions office awhile ago, and they said interview invites haven’t been sent out yet.
Okay, I hope that’s why. I’ve been getting paranoid that I did something wrong and my application didn’t submit or something!
Got interview note couple days back. RD (not ED)
@RedMan108 That’s surprising. I haven’t, and I’m ED. Where are you from? I live in South Florida.
Yikes this is making me nervous…have other people in the Boston area applying ED already received interviews?
My D received her alumni interview yesterday 11/9 and we are from Boston area
Are Brown Alumni interviews selective (some sort of pre-screening) or randomly connected by some system based on the location and available alumni? I recall seeing in one of the forums that someone was accepted w/o alumni interview.
I received mine on Thursday and I’m from Delaware
Are Brown Alumni interviews selective – NO! NO! NO! (read my FAQ post about interviews stickied at the top of the forum).
While things have certainly changed this year, some things have not changed. When you hear from an alum about an interview is dependent on the volunteer interviewers. Some alums set up interviews the moment they get your name. Others wait because they are human beings with lives or are lazy or forgetful. Same with the alumni who make the assignments. Some wait until all the names are in the system, others will make assignments the moment the applicant’s name is posted on the website.
The Boston area is huge, with hundreds of ED applicants. It is split into a few different regions with different volunteers in charge. Just because one person got an interview in Boston doesn’t mean every applicant should have been contacted already.
I’ve already interviewed the student I was assigned.
And every year students are accepted who did not have an interview.
my son applied to ED - anyone applying for PLME ? what is the acceptance rate for ED? - when will we get results?
738 students out of 3502 applicants were accepted under last year’s ED round. While this shows an increase in acceptance rate from RD, one has to also consider recruited athletes and other recruited students with these numbers. The majority of students in ED are deferred to the RD round. The results usually come out middle-December, with last years coming out on December 14.
These are Last year Ivy results…
