Brown Essay

Does the Brown Essay change every year? Or is it the same? If so, does anyone know what the essay prompt is? I’m new to this, so it would be nice to get some help. I’m currently a junior and I’m really excited about the whole application process. Thanks!!! =)

If i remember correctly, the essay was open-ended. Write about whatever you want. There are special essays for PLME and ScB concentrations though.

i applied for engineering, so apart from the regular essay (which as stated before was open ended) you had about four more short answer questions. basically they were why, how questions. ehh... out of all the 12 apps i did, i liked browns best. plus i liked the different colors. haha...

how quirky should essays be?
i was thinking about writing mine about the disadvantages i've encountered as a short kid, but how i eventually made it work to my advantage because now i'm a coxswain (small person in crew).
thoughts?

initially, my essay was going to be about my lack of organization and how i tried to remedyit but it failed until i realized i had my own systen and i got by. but i was told not to do that by COUNTLESS teachers. they saidit wouls make me sound bad. oh well... i dont know, i geuss not everyone has that problem, so ull be unique. include a line about how u fell in the water and they hityou with the oars as they passed by cause u were so short they didnt notice u missing. that would be funny

My essay was about how I wanted to do something useful with my life. I related it back to a course I took at the University of the Minnesota I took about the Holocaust.

The essay doesn't change year to year -- its open-ended.

I also just used my Brown essay for my Common App essay after I was deferred. If anyone wants to check it out I posted it on my blog here:

i got screwed man... i had to do those extra essays... but i got in. it feels kinda unreal, maybe causei didnt expect it, came as a surprise... so anyway, i used the same essay foreach college plus extra ones here and there. andi didnt make my essay college specific, like "if i go to Brown, i know i will achieve all that i have sent my eyes upon" and then change it for another essay. i just made it generic, not a mention of a college name. hmm... i wanna speak to them adcoms and see why they choose me over all those other people... im curious about that
