haha i know what you mean, bball....i almost didn't apply to harvard, yale, and columbia...thinking that i shouldn't try for schools harder than brown...but now it looks like i have a better shot at columbia and harvard than i have at brown.

I think all of us who applied to brown are in agreement here. Luckily, I applied to Harvard and Columbia but only because I had planned on applying anyways for their Tibetan Studies Programs.

His exact words were: "We could only accept 60 out of 1200 applicants, this was our most competitive year."

I hope not, because they told me 60 spots, not 60 accepts, and I was hoping 60 spots meant 90-100 accepts like Bball said.

did he tell you why they could only accept 60? I thought they accept around 200~ :S

I can't speculate was to what he meant, but those were his exact words (in the quote from my earlier post above). The guy I spoke to is on the admissions board (in case anyone was wondering what his function at Brown is)

The admissions office told me it was around 60 spots, but they emphasized that the number of spots is DIFFERENT than the number of admitted students.

I was told that the enrollment office restricts how many transfers can be accepted in a given year.

For what it is worth, when one checks the status of his or her application, it now says tracking of credentials on-line is no longer available for this academic year", this changed from earlier today- so hopefully that means decisions will be on their way soon?

Does everyone elses status check have the statement that credential checking is no longer available? Also, any idea why they will not post online, rather just send them out Friday in the mail?

a bump, to remind everyone that decisions were mailed today. post in here when you get yours...

did most of you guys apply for fall admission, spring admission, or both?

I applied for fall and asked them to consider me for spring

are you a sophomore or a freshman, luckycharms? I'm a sophomore and applied just for fall...seeing as I'll be a junior next year, I didn't think I would be eligible for spring admission.

i'm a freshman who applied as a sophomore :D considering how selective they have been this year I doubt I will be admitted but at least they are letting us know

I actually don't think that is true bnx86, because Brown has midyear graduation, and several students seem to be ".5'er's" ala "06.5" in the brown daily herald.

what happens when you guys put in your brown id into the check status page? also, what about when you check financial aid? has anyone's stopped workin

yes it has stopped working. the status page says something along the lines of not being able to check admissions materials for this academic year. it doesn't really matter since we'll be getting our decisions in a few days.

Anyone get the mail yet?

it's been less than 24 hours since they mailed... most of the mail on the east coast hasn't been sorted and delivered yet haha.

NJ - Mail received, no decision from Brown.

MA-mail received, nothing from Brown
