I’m a Brown RD applicant and I was contacted for a second interview today. I had never heard of them before, but as far as I can tell, they’re for applicants who are on the fence.
I have no idea how my first interview went, but I’m now leaning towards assuming it went badly because I have above average stats. For my first interview, I went to an interview day, where you’re assigned an interviewer randomly on the spot. This time, a Brown alum texted me. I googled her, and found out that she is the same person who interviewed me last month. I’m not sure if she remembers, but I’m worried it will influence the second interview.
Has anyone else been asked about a second interview? Should I be concerned about having the same interviewer twice?
I have never heard of second interviews at Brown, and I’ve been interviewing for Brown for 30+ years. Granted, there’s much I don’t know, but what I do know is we are scrambling to find enough volunteers to interview students once. I find it hard to believe we can interview someone twice.
I can’t help but wonder if your interviewer forgot to write-up your report and couldn’t remember enough about you since it was a group interview situation and she interviewed a bunch of students.
I have no advice or interpretation for you since I am totally unfamiliar with this situation. I wouldn’t assume it’s a bad thing, though.
Did they specifically say it was for a second interview? I’m wondering if some signals got crossed and somehow she didn’t realize she’d already interviewed you.
I have never heard of anyone having a 2nd interview at Brown. I wouldn’t use a thread from the Harvard board as evidence of anything since schools handle interviews differently.
I agree with the above posters that most likely this is the result of a miscommunication and/or she forgot to do a writeup.
My son also received a request for a second interview (but for a different Ivy). He wrote to the second prospective interviewer, who said that he didn’t know about the first interview. He gave son the option of going ahead with a second interview to get a different perspective or opting out.
I definitely would email her and let her know that you’ve already spoken before. You don’t want her to make the realization while she’s sitting there for the second time; it’ll be embarrassing for both of you, and she’s wonder why you didn’t say something if you knew about it.
